Most people know Adrian Dunbar as Ted Hastings from the popular show Line of Duty, and fans are eagerly awaiting season seven. However, despite the ongoing mystery of “H” in that series, Rotten Tomatoes reveals Dunbar’s highest-rated drama is actually a different mystery altogether.
I recently checked out this show, Blood, which originally aired on Channel 5 back in 2018 and is now on Netflix, and it’s seriously good! Critics absolutely loved it – it’s got a perfect 100% rating, which is pretty rare these days.
The first season received high praise, with the Sydney Morning Herald calling it “gripping” and noting that it quickly builds suspense. The Irish Times highlighted several reasons to watch Blood, including strong performances from a fresh cast and skillful storytelling with a well-managed plot and rhythm.

In 2020, the show’s second season received a positive review from The Guardian, earning four out of five stars (according to Rotten Tomatoes). The review praised creator Sophie Petzal, stating that she successfully continued the compelling family story.
According to The Times, the new series is visually appealing and full of intriguing plot points designed to keep viewers engaged with plenty of surprises. However, it differs significantly from the source material.
What to Read Next
The drama Blood follows Cathleen ‘Cat’ Hogan (Carolina Main, known from Unforgotten) as she returns to her Irish hometown after her mother’s unexpected death. As Cat pieces together memories from her childhood, she starts to question whether her father, Jim (played by Kelly Dunbar), might have been involved in his wife’s death, as he was the last person to see her.
The show features Gráinne Keenan (known for Irish Blood), Diarmuid Noyes (The Walsh Sisters), Fiona Bell (Shetland), and Ian Lloyd Anderson (Magpie Murders) in supporting roles.
If you’re looking for a quick weekend binge-watch, Blood might be perfect – it only has two seasons, with just six episodes each.

As we mentioned before, Adrian Dunbar is back with his former Line of Duty colleagues. The AC-12 team is preparing for a new season of Jed Mercurio’s hit police drama.
Good news for fans! Mark Bonnar, known for appearing on The Celebrity Traitors, will be returning as Mike Dryden. He’s just one of several familiar faces coming back for more.
The series is adding a new detective, portrayed by Robert Carlyle. He joins a long list of talented guest stars who have appeared on the show throughout its run.
Lots to look forward to.
Blood aired on Channel 5 and is now also on Netflix.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! This special 100-page, full-color magazine celebrates the life and work of Sir David Attenborough. You can find it at newsstands or order it online.
