Line of Duty boss’s hit police show that leaves audiences ‘on the edge of their seat’ confirms exciting return

The suspenseful drama starring Vicky McClure, titled Trigger Point, has secured a fourth season before the broadcast of its third series.

As a devoted fan, I can proudly say that the pulse-pounding ITV drama I’m hooked on is a creation birthed by the brilliant mind of Jed Mercurio, the genius behind “Line of Duty”. This series follows the thrilling exploits of Lana Washington, played by McClure, and her elite team of bomb disposal experts, affectionately known as EXPOs.

In the fall, season three is scheduled to start, where Lana and her team will delve into an apparent bomb threat, uncovering it as a vengeful scheme.

Expressing an opinion about the potential fourth season of “Trigger Point“, main actor McClure was excitedly looking forward to further exploring Lana’s narrative.

McClure stated, “The enthusiasm for this series is so high that ITV has already commissioned a fourth one, even before the third episode has been broadcast.

I truly enjoy collaborating with my team; our camaraderie is fantastic as we bring the show to life. I eagerly anticipate furthering Lana’s storyline in Trigger Point.

ITV’s Drama Director, Polly Hill, spoke about the series’ achievements, as its recently broadcast second season drew in 8.1 million viewers and amassed 30 million streams on ITVX.

As a devoted viewer, I’m ecstatically excited that the gripping “Trigger Point” series, which was ITV’s second most-viewed drama last year following “Mr Bates vs The Post Office,” is making a comeback for its fourth season. This declaration comes from none other than… Hill!

Once more, I’m confident that viewers will find themselves on the edge of excitement as Lana and her team guide us through another heart-pounding adventure to ensure our capital remains secure.

The third season of Trigger Point will be broadcast on ITV1 and STV this coming fall, with the fourth season set to premiere in 2026. In the meantime, you can watch seasons 1 and 2 right now on ITVX.
