As a dedicated follower of all things entertainment, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia seeing Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis back together again for Freaky Friday 2. Having grown up watching the original film, it feels like revisiting a cherished childhood memory.
On Wednesday, Lindsay Lohan radiated Hollywood elegance while shooting scenes for Freaky Friday 2 in Los Angeles.
At the 2024 Disney Legends Awards, she left a striking impression. Now, she’s reprising her role as Anna Coleman in the sequel to the 2003 body-swap comedy we all loved.
Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, reprises her role as Anna’s mom Tess.
The superstar was seen in the streets of downtown Los Angeles, filming the Disney production alongside her 15-year-old co-star, Julia Butters.
Previously from Mean Girls, she caught everyone’s attention with a stylish appearance that showcased long, shapely legs. Her outfit had an amusing dolphin pattern, and she complemented it elegantly by wearing white high heels. To complete her look, her red hair flowed loosely in soft waves, giving off a hint of casual glamour.
Following Lindsay’s heartfelt revelation about the marvelous on-set adventure she’s encountering during the production of Freaky Friday 2, it’s now my turn to step into the spotlight and join in the fun.
Despite the storyline remaining undisclosed for now, Lindsay has disclosed to Good Morning America that her character will be a mother in the upcoming movie, and added that she underwent guitar lessons to prepare herself for the role.
She mentioned that she’s not able to reveal much, but she is learning how to play the guitar and her child appears in a film.
‘It’s going to be a really Freaky Friday. Much freakier than you would expect.’
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement about reuniting with my on-screen mother Jamie! There’s nothing more thrilling than sharing the screen with her again!
“I must say, it’s simply marvelous! We’re all having a blast here. There’s just something about this experience that makes me eager for more enjoyable moments.”
‘It’s just lot of love, lot of fun, lot of laughs. It’s a great experience.’
She continued: ‘Jamie and I have stayed in touch over the years. They always say when you have a best friend, or someone you’re really close with, and you cannot see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you never separated.
‘I think just always, women supporting women is such an incredible thing.’
In a delightful twist of fate, the stars will once again embody their unforgettable mother-daughter characters from the 2003 movie, resurfacing on our screens twenty-one years after the original production cemented its status as a beloved family favorite.
Their first photos from the Walt Disney Studios set even gave a subtle nod to the comedy’s premise – a mother-daughter body swap.
In this scene, Jamie is spotted extending her tongue and making the rock and roll gesture while vomiting, all the while Lindsay maintains an upright position and gracefully smiles at the camera.
The studio labeled the picture, “The Colemans return for a big-screen appearance in 2025! Production on the next installment of Freaky Friday is underway!”
A multitude of enthusiastic fans rushed to the comment area, sharing their eagerness, with one user from X posting: “This historic reunion is the most legendary of all time.”
Another chimed in: ‘I need Chad Michael Murray back.’
Even though Disney hasn’t disclosed the storyline for the sequel as of now, Lindsay recently offered a sneak peek into the filming process by posting some behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram.
The video captured a scene where it moved from a photographer to two famous stars – one known for The Parent Trap, and another for Halloween – as they stood back-to-back, posing for photographs. They peeked out of their trailers playfully, and later enjoyed a heartwarming moment by sitting on the steps of their trailers together.
She captioned the clip: ‘We’re back!’
Jamie re-shared a photo featuring herself and her TV daughter on Instagram, writing as a caption: ‘We can’t contain our excitement! The Colemans are back to their quirky antics again!’
In an effort to make sure my followers didn’t miss out, I also posted about it on my Instagram Story, saying: “The journey starts here! Time to get funky and wild!”
In March, Lindsay informed People that the Freaky Friday sequel was being developed and expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Jamie once more, curious to explore where we can push the storyline even further.
She mentioned that they usually chat about once every two days, which makes her believe they’ll have an enjoyable time together.
In the delightful film Freaky Friday, I found myself utterly captivated, especially when it comes to the characters of Tess, a disciplined psychiatrist portrayed by Jamie, and Anna, a rebellious high school rocker played by Lindsay. After an intense argument, we witness a magical twist where they unbelievably trade bodies!
The film also starred Mark Harmon as Tess’ fiancé and Chad Michael Murray as Anna’s boyfriend, Jake.
