Linda Nolan shares a heartbreaking cancer update as she reveals this Christmas ‘means more than ever’ because she ‘never expected to make it this far’
As a compassionate observer, I cannot help but admire the indomitable spirit of Linda, a woman who has faced more than her fair share of hardships yet remains resilient and hopeful. Her life story is a testament to human strength and determination, as she bravely battles cancer for the fifth time.
Linda Nolan has posted a distressing cancer update prior to Christmas, revealing her honest feelings in the process.
This year, the singer, who is now 65 years old, shared that the holiday season holds greater significance for her. She had previously thought she wouldn’t be celebrating Christmas.
The star explained her Christmas plans to Woman magazine, telling them she was looking forward to going round to her sister Denise’s house and finding out what all the little ones got from Santa.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m absolutely thrilled about the upcoming festivities of Christmas! To be quite honest, I hadn’t anticipated celebrating this season, so the fact that I will is truly an unexpected and joyful addition to my year.
As a family, we eagerly anticipate Christmas and are looking forward to reuniting at Denise’s place. It promises to be a wonderful gathering since our meetings always bring us immense joy. I’m particularly thrilled about spending time with the kids and witnessing their excitement.
Coleen Nolan’s panelist sister expressed her hope to join the family celebration again next year, while also sharing an update on her current health status.
Linda revealed to the media that she receives chemotherapy treatments every three weeks, along with regular blood tests. If the test results are favorable, she will proceed with additional rounds of treatment.
She added: ‘You have to be careful with chemo. I’ve lost my hair again – I’m bald for the fifth time and it still gets to me each time.
“I feel quite upset when it ends. My leg gets a severe cramp, which is quite uncomfortable, but otherwise, I don’t experience much pain, which is fortunate.
Regardless of her health challenges, Linda has managed to stay optimistic. In an interview with a magazine, she revealed that she’s been battling cancer since 2005, and has promised to keep on fighting as long as her strength allows.
On her 60th birthday, she expressed a wish to survive until the following year, and astonishingly, not only did she do so, but she’s also reached the age of 65 now.
She added: ‘If you lose hope, you lose everything.
At times it can be challenging, but you must find the resilience within yourself to say, “I won’t stay in bed dwelling on my feelings.
Linda mentioned that she maintains a positive outlook by ensuring she stays active and spends time outdoors whenever possible.
She mentioned that she’s willing to brave the chilly outdoors in her garden, as the fresh air invigorates her.
It’s beneficial to stay active, but also essential to spend time outdoors. Whether it means soaking up the chill in your garden or simply breathing the fresh air outside, these moments can significantly improve your mood, even during colder seasons.
A week ago, Linda informed The Mirror that following a recent fall, she acknowledged she was unable to live on her own anymore and has since relocated to live with her sister.
She admitted that circumstances made it impossible for her to go back home, and although she initially planned to stay with Denise and Tom for a short while, it’s been 18 months since she moved in with them permanently.
Linda’s update follows her heartfelt plea during an interview on Good Morning Britain in August, where she asked for cancer to stop troubling her family.
With trembling hands and a voice thick with emotion, I, a devoted admirer, found myself on the verge of sobs as I readied myself for my fifth round of treatment. My heart overflowed with a fervent appeal that I felt compelled to share.
In 2006, the Nolan family member got a clean bill of health following breast cancer, however, she was unfortunately diagnosed with an advanced stage cancer that couldn’t be cured in 2017.
In August, Linda provided a new report stating that the previously believed stationary tumors in her brain had actually begun to increase in size.
On Google My Business, Linda disclosed that she would be starting a fresh round of chemotherapy due to an update, and also mentioned the possibility of losing her hair for the second time.
In addition, she disclosed the impact the prolonged therapy had on her teeth, indicating a missing tooth with enthusiasm and saying, “See, I’ve lost one!
Linda’s siblings, Colleen, Anne, and unfortunately Bernie, have had a past struggle with cancer. Colleen, Anne, and Linda herself were diagnosed with it, while Bernie sadly lost her life to the illness back in 2013.
Linda expressed that she is no different from others, but what she desires is for the incidence of cancer in her family to subside. Alternatively, she hopes for a brief respite, if not entirely.
Richard Madeley expressed sympathy, saying, “It’s understandable to feel enraged towards the world for the way your family has been afflicted by cancer.” He then asked Linda if such feelings of anger have arisen due to its impact on her loved ones.
She replied: ‘I asked Bernie one time, somebody said to her “Do you ever think Why me?” and she said “No I think why not me”. It doesn’t pick and choose.
‘You can’t put your name down and say you’re next in line. But we have had a rough time with it.’
