Limbus Company Beginners Guide and Tips

Limbus Company is a single-player, turn-based RPG created by Project Moon, the team behind Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina. It’s a new story set in the same intriguing world as those games. You’ll explore a huge, bleak city with a team of 12 unique characters, known as Sinners, on a quest to find Golden Boughs.

The game features 12 main characters you can play as, which makes it easier and more enjoyable to learn and use the game’s features. Now, let’s go over a beginner’s guide to Limbus Company, including some tips to help new players build strong teams and win battles.

Gameplay Overview

Limbus Company is a turn-based RPG, meaning you build your strategy and then select actions. Battles focus on creating sequences of attacks or defenses, aiming to hit enemies at the right moment for maximum impact.

Clashing is a game feature where a random coin flip determines the winner of a one-on-one battle between your character and an enemy.

The game features different categories like sins, classes, and damage types. When building a strong team, players should carefully consider how the various sins work with each of their heroes.

To be successful, you’ll need to build a team that focuses on dealing the same kinds of damage. This will make any status effects your team applies strong enough to take down enemies before they can act again.

Mastering the Combat functionality in Limbus Company

Battles center around identifying your team’s ‘Sin’ type. This is determined by using skills that match a specific color, representing one of the seven deadly sins: Wrath, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Sloth, and Pride.

These enemies are identified by their color to help you remember who’s who. Defeating enough of them unlocks special abilities that improve your luck and give your team extra advantages.

Okay, so after you engage in a fight, you really need to figure out if you’ve got the upper hand. The more you’re dominating, the better your chances of getting a special coin – basically, a lucky break – that helps you win the encounter. It’s also super important to know that each enemy is different. They all have varying levels of resistance to things like status effects, different damage types, the weapons you’re using, and even resistances based on the seven deadly sins – yeah, it gets kinda complicated!

Egos and how they work

In Limbus Company, characters have a system called Egos that grow stronger over time. Each character starts with a basic Ego, and these Egos are categorized into ranks: ZAYIN, TETH, HE, WAW, and ALEPH – with ALEPH being the highest rank.

To use an Ego in combat, players must first fulfill its specific Sin requirement, which is built up by battling opponents who possess that same Sin. Using an Ego also drains the sanity of those affected by it. If sanity drops too low, the Ego can become corrupted, negatively impacting the entire team.

When building your team, make sure your characters’ abilities produce enough ‘sins’ – these are essential for powering up in battles. Also, pay attention to your characters’ passive abilities, as they provide team-wide benefits that are always active after using their ultimate skill, which can be a lifesaver in tough situations.

Introducing the Basics of Limbus Company

Here are all the basics that you should know before playing the game:

Window

The main screen in the game acts like your personal homepage. Here, you can find all the latest news, check your email, and see how much of each currency you have. It also includes your inventory, where you can view all your items and resources. Be sure to check your mailbox regularly for rewards!

Sinners

The ‘Sinners’ section lets players manage characters they’ve collected in the game. You start with 12 Sinners, and here you can improve their levels, change their identities, and customize their Egos.

To see a character’s stats, simply tap and hold their icon. A stat screen will then appear. You can also find a helpful tier list for all characters at the Limbus Company Sinners Tier List.

Drive

The Drive is where you can see the current Cantos, which are like chapters, and what’s happening in the story. You can also complete activities like Laxcavations, Mirror Dungeons, and the Refraction Railway to earn resources called lunacy and ego shards to help improve your characters.

You won’t have access to everything right away, as many game modes become available later on and are tied to story progress. For now, concentrate on Laxcavation to develop strong teams.

This game has a straightforward story, and once an event happens, it’s always there – you won’t worry about missing out if you skip something! Make sure to complete every chapter, stage, and mission to advance.

Theater

The Theater serves as a central hub for all story information. Here, you can explore detailed backgrounds on the cities, objects, and enemies within the game. You’ll also find the histories and motivations of each Sinner, with new details unlocking as the story unfolds.

Extract

The Extract is a crucial part of the game where you can summon Sinners – either their IDs or Egos – to build a powerful team. You need Lunacy, an in-game currency, to perform these summons. Typically, players progress through three different types of Extractions.

  • Target Extraction
  • Standard Extraction
  • Welcome EXtraction (this one goes away after you get your guaranteed ID)

Dispense

In Dispense, you can unlock unique IDs and E.G.Os for each character. Unlocking these requires collecting a specific number of character shards for each item you want. You can get these shards from Ego shard crates, which are earned through the battle pass by completing the mirror dungeon, and also through special events.

Utilizing the in-game Currency and Resources

The game simplifies things by using fewer types of currency and resources. Each one plays a specific role as you advance through the story.

Lunacy

Lunacy is a currency used in the game to help with Extractions. It allows you to summon stronger characters – both Sinners and Egos – for your team, and you can also use it to purchase Enkephalin Boxes.

Thread

Threads are used to upgrade sinners and their EGOs. You can obtain them by completing Laxvacation challenges, participating in events, and through the Battlepass by playing mirror dungeons. You can also trade unwanted ego shards for Threads in the Dispense menu.

Enkephalin

Enkephalin is like the stamina system in this game. You need it to play battle stages, and you can get more by waiting for it to recharge, leveling up your account, completing the battle pass, or participating in events.

These items can be bought directly with in-game currency. They’re crafted into modules, which are essential for exploring dungeons and going on ‘laxvacations.’ Therefore, use them wisely.

Egoshard

Egoshards are the currency used to unlock characters, their unique abilities (EGO), and threads, allowing you to build a strong team. Each character has their own specific Egoshards, meaning you can collect everything for every character except for those obtained through collaborations.

Limbus Company Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks

New to Limbus Company? Here are some helpful tips to get you started and ensure a smooth beginning.

1. Summon more and more Sinners IDs

You can get Lunacies easily in the game, so use them carefully to summon more sinners. Building a strong, well-rounded team with balanced stats is key to success. Summoning more sinners is the best way to create that winning team before each battle and achieve victory.

2. Follow up the storyline

To advance in the game, complete every chapter, stage, and mission. Doing so will earn you rewards that you can use to improve your profile and strengthen your team.

3. Complete mirror dungeons

Once you finish the prologue, you’ll unlock Mirror Dungeon. This mode lets you earn Lunacy, the game’s main currency for getting new characters. You can also progress your battle pass and try out different weekly rental teams to learn about effective team compositions and how they work together. It’s a rogue-like experience that really expands the game’s combat, so get ready for some exciting battles!

4. Focus on the team’s buffs and debuffs

Pay attention to your team’s health and status during battles, and be aware of what your opponents are capable of. Ignoring these details can lead to a surprising and frustrating loss. A well-rounded team is key to winning, and remember that status effects can affect both your enemies and your allies.

5. Check out properly before executing the combat chain

Okay, so when I’m planning my attack, I always check those arrows connecting my character to the enemy. If the arrow points straight to them, it means my shot will hit! But here’s the catch: if they have a red arrow pointing back at me, it means they’ll block my damage and launch a counterattack. Seriously, I have to scope out all the possibilities before I commit, or I’m probably going to get wrecked.
