Lily James puts on an elegant display during NYC outing… before revealing her fears for modern day dating during chat show appearance

She is blazing the promo trail for her new movie Swiped.

Lily James, who portrays Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd in the movie, has consistently showcased stylish outfits, as demonstrated by her fashionable look during a recent appearance in New York City on Monday.

The 36-year-old actress, known for her role in Downton Abbey, looked stunning in a Nina Ricci blouse and high-waisted trousers. She was heading into an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers to talk about her new movie.

The actress admitted she hasn’t used dating apps personally, but she worries they’re making it harder to meet people in a natural way.

You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about dating these days, with all the apps and online connections. It’s easy to get comfortable swiping, but I worry we’re losing something special – that spontaneous connection you get when you actually *see* someone, make eye contact across a room, and just go for it. I really hope that natural, in-person spark doesn’t become a thing of the past. It’s a skill, almost, and I think we need to keep practicing it!

Okay, let me tell you, Lily absolutely nailed her look! She was wearing this gorgeous cream-colored blouse – super chic with a high waist – and she layered it beautifully with a sheer top over a vest. It was a really stylish and put-together outfit, and she looked amazing!

She showed off her small waist with fitted trousers that resembled a corset, and completed the look with sunglasses reminiscent of the 90s.

Later that same day, Lily changed into a more daring outfit, turning heads in a short black dress with an off-the-shoulder design and sheer tights, which highlighted her slender legs.

Ahead of playing Whitney, Lily was asked by Seth if she had tried out dating apps.

She admitted, a little embarrassed, that she hadn’t actually tried using the apps herself, and felt a bit guilty about being the ‘creator’ without having personal experience. To prepare for the film, though, she secretly borrowed her friend’s phone to do some research.

Seth recalls when dating apps first became popular, people felt a bit awkward admitting they’d met someone online. He remembers a time when saying ‘we met on an app’ felt strange, similar to jokingly saying ‘we just happened to be drunk at the same time’ as an explanation.

Lily expressed her worry that the simple act of meeting someone through eye contact in a bar is fading away. She hopes this romantic way of connecting doesn’t become a thing of the past.

Lily recently discussed the show ‘Swiped,’ which details the alleged sexual harassment Whitney experienced while working at Tinder.

Lily explained that she first encountered the script before the actors’ strike began, and she was immediately struck by Whitney Wolfe’s remarkable story.

I didn’t really know where to start. Dating apps are everywhere now, and they’ve become a major way people connect, whether we approve or not.

I was really inspired by the story of this woman, who was involved from the very beginning at both Bumble and Tinder. Her journey of becoming a successful and innovative entrepreneur, despite facing significant obstacles that she overcame, was truly remarkable.
