Lily Collins shared that her daughter, Tove, loves listening to her grandfather Phil Collins’ music each morning.
The actress, 36, recently shared personal thoughts about being a mother and discussed it further during an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday.
The daughter of a British singer and former member of the band Genesis recently announced the birth of her daughter, Tove. She and her husband, Charlie McDowell, welcomed Tove in January via surrogacy.
When Jimmy Fallon asked what her baby enjoys listening to, she said they play her dad – her grandpa – every morning.
The talk show host jokingly urged someone to play a Phil Collins song, exclaiming, ‘You’ve got to play Phil Collins! That’s the best! And ‘Every Morning?’ is a classic!’
Collins confirmed she plays music for her child every morning, mentioning favorites like ‘Invisible Touch’ and ‘In The Air Tonight’.

The actress also mentioned that Phil has some musical competition in the house from another contestant.
Collins mentioned that the only artist comparable to his grandpa is Caspar Babypants, also known as Christopher Ballew, who creates music for children.
Ballew used to play in the alternative rock band, Presidents of the United States of America.
She believes he doesn’t get enough credit, and jokingly suggested that if people aren’t familiar with his work, they should check out his popular songs, ‘Run Baby Run’ and ‘Chicken In The Cornbread’.
Caspar Babypants is a huge favorite in their family – both parents enjoy listening to him, even when their daughter isn’t around!
Honestly, my friend and I love listening to him in the car, especially when Tove isn’t with us.
Besides enjoying music, the celebrity known as Mirror Mirror shared that their almost one-year-old daughter is also a big fan of tennis.
She also mentioned they bought a small tennis racket for her at Wimbledon, and she loves holding onto it.

She’s holding it tightly. I love tennis, but my husband is obsessed with pickleball – he’s a dedicated player! It’s created a bit of a friendly competition between us at home.
Earlier this year, in January, the couple – who got married in 2021 – announced the birth of their daughter, Tove, born through surrogacy.
The actress recently posted a photo on Instagram of her newborn baby, sleeping soundly in a small bed. A white blanket with the baby’s name was draped over the side.
‘Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell,’ the actress had written.
We’re deeply grateful to our amazing surrogate and everyone who supported us on this journey. We love you more than words can say!
Collins has begun introducing Tove to music and previously posted a sweet video of them dancing to the song ‘I Can’t Dance’ by Genesis.
You know, my friend’s dad, Phil, was actually the frontman for a really popular rock band! He decided to go solo back in ’96 to explore some different creative avenues, which was brave. But the band magic never really faded – they’ve reunited a few times since then, most recently for a fantastic tour in 2021 and 2022. It was so fun seeing him back on stage with them!
Shortly after announcing the birth of their child, he responded to criticism regarding their choice to use a surrogate.

We’ve received some insensitive comments about our surrogacy journey, and that’s okay – it’s understandable if you don’t know much about it.
The actor, whose father is Malcom McDowell of A Clockwork Orange, explained that it’s perfectly fine to be unsure why someone chooses to use a surrogate to have a child. It’s also okay to not understand a surrogate’s reasons, no matter what you might think.
It’s perfectly fine to focus on positivity and kindness, especially when it comes to a sweet baby girl who’s already brought so much joy to others.
McDowell ended the conversation, explaining, ‘That’s all for now – I need to change my daughter’s diaper.’
In a recent interview with Elle Spain last November, actress Lily Collins discussed her experiences with motherhood.
I absolutely love my job – it’s new, exciting, and every day brings something different. Plus, I’m so thankful for my amazing daughter.
She excitedly shared that she was delighted by her friend’s newfound skills and couldn’t wait for their future adventures together.
The celebrity also openly shared how her idea of ‘perfection’ has shifted since becoming a mother.
Having a baby really shifts what’s important to you and how you see the world. When you return to work or other commitments, you realize it’s okay not to strive for perfection – you simply can’t focus on just yourself anymore.

The actress emphasized that being there for her family and career is her priority, and while she’ll always try her best, she doesn’t believe in striving for perfection – it’s simply not important to her.
The beauty then explained she is ‘still learning how to manage everything.
Becoming a mother is new for me, and I’m really trying to focus on being fully engaged in whatever I’m doing. When I’m home with my baby, I want to give it my complete attention, and I want to bring that same focus to my work as well.
The actor explained that they carefully select projects they genuinely care about, knowing these roles will often require them to be away from home, which is now especially important to them.
