Lily Collins channels her inner Audrey Hepburn as she recreates one of Hollywood’s most iconic looks for new series of Emily In Paris
As a dedicated follower of fashion and cinema, I must say that the fourth series of Emily In Paris has truly captured my heart with its nod to Hollywood’s ultimate fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn. Having grown up watching her timeless films, I can appreciate the meticulous attention to detail in recreating her iconic looks for Lily Collins.
Lily Collins’ remarkable facial traits and unique dark eyebrows are strikingly similar to those of Audrey Hepburn, making it easy to see a strong resemblance between the two.
Now, their image has been eternally captured in the latest season of Emily in Paris, as the show’s costume designer disclosed that she replicated styles reminiscent of Hollywood’s timeless fashion legend.
Today (on Thursday), we’re debuting the fourth installment of the Netflix comedy-drama, where the 35-year-old actress dons a fake-fur hat and sweater along with extra-large sunglasses as she hits the slopes.
The look will be instantly recognisable to fans of Audrey’s 1963 film Charade.
The costume designer, Marilyn Fitoussi, shared that she herself conceived the idea to replicate the distinctive appearance, and managed to secure the actual sunglasses worn by Audrey Hepburn, which are typically kept under strict security at the Musée de la Lunette in Morez, France.
Ms. Fitoussi stated, “When Lily put them on, there was an outburst of tears, cheers, and goosebumps. Each new season, we pay homage to Audrey Hepburn – it’s become a regular aspect of our collection.”
For the emotional scene, the same opticians who originally made Audrey’s Pierre Marly sunglasses recreated a pair for Lily specifically for the filming of the series.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m drawn to the ingenious fusion of modern and vintage styles. Just like the iconic Audrey Hepburn’s detachable ball skirt in My Fair Lady, I’ve paired a chic striped black and white jumpsuit with a similar piece, to give Lily a captivating ballroom look reminiscent of Truman Capote’s 1966 Masquerade Ball.
As I navigate the enchanting cobblestone streets of timeless Rome, I find myself effortlessly gliding along on a classic Vespa, mirroring the iconic journey of Audrey Hepburn’s character in the 1953 film “Roman Holiday.”
Lily is joined by her Italian co-actor Eugenio Franceschini, who portrays Emily’s latest romantic interest. He adopts the role once played by Gregory Peck as Audrey’s leading man, wearing a red jacket and black shoes.
Lily, along with the ensemble of Emily in Paris, came together for a group picture prior to the highly-awaited premiere.
Paying homage to French style, the British-American actress exuded elegance wearing a Yves Saint Laurent brown blouse paired with a mid-length brown skirt, complemented by black pumps and adorned with Cartier earrings.
In the Netflix show, Emily usually wears long shiny hair, but Lily made a fresh appearance with a modest, short bob hairstyle.
