She looks set to top the charts with her new breakup album West End Girl.
Despite her success, Lily Allen reportedly needs the money from her work to help cover the costs of her divorce, as she’s been facing financial challenges.
In the 14-song listing, her first album in seven years, Lily details in graphic detail the end of her marriage to David Harbour, accusing him of infidelity and being jealous of her career success.
Whether or not the couple had a prenuptial agreement is currently unclear. They are now working with their lawyers to determine how to divide their property.
Lily, age 40, recently revealed she’s facing financial hardship after her separation from David. She’s had to return to work to provide for her daughters, Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 12.
I can’t believe she’s selling the apartment she shared with David! It’s listed for almost $8 million, and honestly, I’m just hoping she gets a good price. I’ve been tracking the listing obsessively, and it just feels…sad, you know? I’m guessing she’s trying to get some money back from the sale, and I really hope it works out for her. I just want her to be happy, and financially secure, of course!

While the property sale will generate a profit, it won’t be as large as initially hoped because there’s still a significant $2.5 million mortgage remaining on the four-story, five-bedroom house.
It is not clear how much money, if any, Lily invested in the home.
Records show the property was purchased in January 2021 for $3.35 million. The purchase was made through a trust, with David’s business manager, Anthony Bonsignore, acting as the trustee.
A $2,512,500 mortgage was secured from City National Bank, often called “Bank to the Stars” because of its many famous Hollywood clients.
This is the second time Lily has had to sell a property. In 2016, she sold her £4.2 million Cotswolds mansion to cover a large tax bill and settle a lawsuit from a former tour manager.
Recent financial records from her UK company suggest she hasn’t been doing well financially.
The singer behind the hit song “Smile,” reportedly worth around £3 million, owns two businesses in the UK that have recently faced financial difficulties.
As a lifestyle expert, I always say it’s important to be financially aware, even with businesses! I recently came across some filings showing that Tourings Boring Ltd is currently operating at a loss of £11,122. It’s a reminder that even established companies can face financial hurdles, and transparency is key.
Pack It Up Pack It In LLP is facing financial difficulties, with recent reports showing only £2,541 in available funds – a significant drop from the £155,920 they had last year.
The significant decrease is due to a reduction in cash reserves, with £149,622 withdrawn over the past year.

Although she married David in September 2020 and now uses Allen professionally, she’s still widely recognized as Cooper in the business world. This is because of her previous marriage to Sam Cooper, with whom she shares two children.
According to docs filed with Companies House, she goes by the name of Lily Rose Beatrice Cooper.
Lily recently revealed she’s been financially independent since her late teens, clarifying that her parents haven’t been supporting her since she was 17 or 18.
Just a year and a half ago, I was comfortable financially and didn’t need to worry about work. Now things are different, and this is how I’m making a living.
In a conversation with Perfect magazine, Lily explained that she relies on her current work to provide for her two children. She added that, at this point in her life, retraining for a completely new career like law isn’t realistic.
After moving back to London last November, Lily bought a house in her childhood neighborhood of Notting Hill.
To settle her divorce, she had to buy another property in the UK, even though she’d sold her house in the Cotswolds nine years earlier to cover tax payments.
On her podcast, Miss Me?, Lily shared that she once owned a wonderful house in the country that she’d always dreamed of having.
I put a lot of work into making it beautiful – it was a real passion project for me. I was incredibly proud of it, and I envisioned raising my family there.

She added that she’s always been diligent about paying her taxes, strongly believing everyone should fulfill their tax obligations, especially those with higher incomes. She feels people earning more should contribute as much as they can.
‘But anyway, I have always put money aside to pay for my tax.
I was unexpectedly sued for a very large sum of money.
‘I had to pay him off, with the money I had put aside for my tax.
When I received my tax bill, I contacted HMRC to see if I could arrange a payment plan to pay it off in smaller amounts over time.
‘Which I would have been able to do, but they said no so, I had to put my house on the market.’
David shared that Lily enjoys shopping, telling Miquita Oliver, her co-host, that she often takes him to very pricey stores.
‘She really likes spending my money. I don’t blame her. I’ve got nothing really to do with it’.

As a longtime supporter of Lily, I was heartbroken to learn her marriage to David ended last December. It was incredibly difficult to hear her accusations that he’d been unfaithful multiple times, especially the claim of a three-year affair with someone who worked on set as a costume designer. It’s just a really sad situation, and I feel for her going through all of this publicly.
As a lifestyle expert, I can share that The Mail on Sunday was the first to uncover who ‘Madeline’ really was. We even had the chance to speak with her directly, right from her home in the US – it was a really fascinating conversation!
Lily’s latest song, “West End Girl,” is getting a lot of attention because of its very open and honest lyrics detailing the end of her four-year marriage to David.
The song’s lyrics imply Lily believed the couple had an understanding allowing them to each have sexual encounters with other people, as long as they were secretive, involved paying for it, and weren’t based on feelings.
She’s singing about a confusing relationship, questioning how long it’s been happening and whether it’s just physical or involves real feelings. He promised to keep it secret, confined to private encounters, and never public.
The song goes on, repeating that there was a secret understanding – a deal that needed to be handled quietly and subtly. It involved a payment, and it was supposed to be made to people they didn’t know. But Madeline, the person being addressed, is an exception – she’s not a stranger.
In an interview with The Times, Lily hinted that David didn’t respect the limits they’d set in their relationship, and also discussed how dating apps have made it simpler to be unfaithful.
Healthy relationships generally have clear boundaries. However, it feels like people are increasingly ignoring those boundaries lately, making things unclear and uncertain.
Dating apps can make people feel like they’re easily replaceable, and that creates a mindset where it seems like there’s always someone better just a swipe away if you’re not completely satisfied.

Lily found out about David’s affair when she stumbled upon his profile on the exclusive Raya dating app and realized what was happening.
The singer created her own account on the dating app, claiming she was interested in women, and reportedly discovered her soon-to-be ex-husband had already created a profile of his own.
In an interview, she explained her concern that dating apps are treating people as easily replaceable and are shifting traditional views on having only one partner.
After her breakup with David, Lily sought help at an intensive treatment center costing £8,000 per week to prioritize her well-being and mental health.
She shared that she uses her music to process difficult emotions and express her honest feelings.
