Two years before their divorce, David Harbour jokingly alluded to cheating while giving a tour of their Brooklyn home with his then-wife, Lily Allen. This happened before Allen released an album detailing his infidelity.
In her song “Madeline” from the album West End Girl, the singer, age 40, seems to be openly confronting an actor about an affair. The lyrics include a direct and explicit accusation: “I don’t believe he didn’t sleep with you in our home.”
A 2023 video of Lily and the Stranger Things actor, 50, giving Architectural Digest a tour of their luxurious home has recently gained attention following Lily’s new music release.
David playfully pretended the camera crew was an ex as he opened the door, jokingly asking, ‘What are you doing here? I have a family now!’ He then welcomed them inside, as Lily watched and laughed.
People online said the comment hadn’t held up well, comparing it to spoiled milk. One person even joked that the woman Lily calls Madeline might have been secretly hiding during the tour.
Viewers commented that David’s opening joke didn’t land well and quickly became unfunny. They also pointed out that the beginning of the video, from Madeleine’s perspective, felt awkward and reminiscent of online fan culture, especially considering she was revealed to have been hiding in a cupboard throughout the entire video.

People are pointing out that Harbour seemingly addressed his own infidelity in the opening 20 seconds of a trailer. Viewers also noted the woman in the trailer appeared to be aware of the situation, based on her body language, and the entire introduction now feels awkward in light of recent events.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I literally DIED when I saw their house! They have this incredible media room with the coolest tiger print everywhere, and get this – their kitchen is totally inspired by The Godfather! It’s so dramatic and amazing. Then there are these gorgeous floral rooms that feel like you’re in Paris, and the CLOSET! A walk-in closet overflowing with designer everything! I need to live there, seriously.
As they toured the kitchen, Lily quipped: ‘[This is] our plain English kitchen!’
David recalled that when he first went on a date with Lily Allen, she told him she’d always dreamed of having a simple, straightforward kitchen.
She thought saying something like, “Nice to meet you, by the way, English is the name of the kitchen,” on a first date would be a really daring move.
David laughed and said: ‘I liked it, I kind of liked it, I was like, ”alright, let’s do this!”.
This follows Lily suggesting she and her ex-husband, David, had an open relationship with agreed-upon limits, during a recent interview about their past marriage.
The singer, releasing her first album in seven years after her partner’s infidelity, criticized the breakdown of traditional relationship boundaries and suggested that dating apps contribute to increased temptation and cheating.

Lily’s latest song, “West End Girl,” is getting a lot of attention because of its very direct and honest lyrics about her divorce from actor David, which finalized last December. She had previously accused him of infidelity, claiming he had multiple affairs.
The song’s lyrics imply Lily believed the couple had an understanding allowing for casual sexual encounters, as long as they were kept secret, involved paid partners, and lacked emotional intimacy.
She’s singing about a complicated situation, questioning how long an affair has been happening and whether it’s just physical or involves real feelings. He promised to keep it secret, confined to private encounters, and never public.
The song’s chorus goes like this: ‘We had a deal – keep it quiet and subtle. There was supposed to be money involved, and it was meant to be with people we didn’t know. But you, Madeline, are different.’
In an interview with The Times, Lily hinted that David didn’t respect the boundaries they’d set in their relationship, and also discussed how dating apps have made it simpler to be unfaithful.

Healthy relationships generally have clear boundaries. However, it feels like people are increasingly unsure about respecting those limits lately.
Dating apps can make people feel like they’re easily replaced, which creates the belief that if things aren’t going well, there’s always someone else just a swipe away.
Lily found out about David’s affair when she stumbled upon his profile on the exclusive Raya dating app and realized what was happening.
I was absolutely floored when I heard this! Apparently, the singer herself decided to check out the dating app, and she created a profile suggesting she was interested in women. Can you believe it? She discovered her now ex-husband had already made his own profile! It’s just wild to think about her finding out that way.
In an interview, she explained her view that dating apps create a ‘disposable’ attitude towards relationships and are altering traditional beliefs about being with one person at a time.
Oh my gosh, after everything with David, poor Lily is taking such amazing care of herself! I read she checked into this incredible treatment center – it costs £8,000 a week! It’s so good to see her prioritizing her mental health and really focusing on getting better after everything she’s been through. I’m just so worried about her and want her to be okay!
She shared that she uses her music to process difficult emotions and express her honest feelings.
