Lily Allen‘s new album appears to be a direct response to accusations that her ex-husband, David Harbour, was unfaithful, and she expresses her feelings about it very strongly.
Having previously criticized actor Joseph Quinn in her popular song “West End Girl,” the singer is now planning to address past bullying and abuse she experienced at the hands of people within the music industry.
Lily Allen, age 40, is planning to release an album she wrote five years ago. The songs are reportedly meant to call out men who have wronged her.
Her record label, BMG, didn’t release the album then because her popularity was declining and her career seemed to be failing.
A source within the music industry revealed tonight that there’s a lot of buzz surrounding Lily’s previously unreleased album, and she’s actively working to get it released.
With the release of ‘West End Girl’ cleverly timed around Millie Bobby Brown’s return in ‘Stranger Things’, it’s anyone’s guess what Taylor Swift has planned for the subjects of her other past relationships if the album actually comes out.
I truly believe Lily is at the peak of her career right now. Her last album was a massive success, and she’s a total star! If she ever wanted to make her dreams a reality, this is absolutely the moment.
Each song on the unreleased album is inspired by a different coworker, but instead of using their real names, she gives each song a pseudonym.
The source also mentioned that there’s a lot to discuss regarding Lily’s experiences, as she’s faced significant hardship and exploitation within the industry. Being a young and vulnerable woman, she unfortunately attracted those who would take advantage of her.
In 2018, Ms. Allen publicly revealed she was sexually assaulted by a music industry executive. She stated that after a party, the man brought her to his hotel room and attempted to sexually assault her while she was sleeping.
Honestly, I’m a bit relieved to hear they’re suggesting she work with Blue May again. Apparently, her company is worried about legal issues with the album, and Blue – he’s a producer from the UK who helped her with ‘West End Girl’ – is supposed to help her rework it to avoid any trouble. It just feels like a smart move to bring someone experienced back on board.
Ms. Allen, whose daughters Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 13, live at home, recently visited Los Angeles to see May.
Everyone in the music industry is talking about the London singer tonight as they gather for the Grammy Awards, because she’s made a huge impression.
