Lily Allen confirms she’s moving out of her New York townhouse following split from David Harbour as she reveals decorating her new London flat has ‘helped me’ amid her ‘hard time’

Lily Allen, after her separation from husband David Harbour, has affirmed that she will be leaving her townhouse in New York.

In 2020, following their wedding in Las Vegas, the ex-couple relocated to an Art Deco residence in Brooklyn, a property that was also highlighted in Architectural Digest.

Last December, it became known that the actor from Stranger Things, aged 50, and the singer, aged 40, had ended their relationship. Shortly after, news emerged suggesting that he had been unfaithful.

In an effort to begin anew amidst her marital struggles, Lily recently bought a former council apartment in London. She’s shared that she’s been immersing herself in home decoration as a means of coping and finding comfort during these difficult times.

The artist behind “The Smile” shared with The Mirror that she’s currently finding inspiration in interior design magazines, commenting: “I’ve been quite fond of them lately. They’ve provided some solace during a challenging period for me.

In the episode of her “Miss Me?” podcast that aired in March, Lily discussed her latest residence, a place where she and her two daughters will reside, during a conversation with her co-host Miquita Oliver.

She mentioned that her newly purchased apartment is located within a social housing complex. To ensure she doesn’t appear as an outsider changing the neighborhood dynamics, she has included a clause in the purchase agreement allowing herself to sell if needed, as the location is familiar – being the place where she grew up. In simpler terms, she bought a flat in a social housing area she grew up in, and included a way out clause so she won’t seem like an outsider gentrifying the neighborhood.

Lily expressed, “I’ve harbored a lifelong aspiration to reside in this building, and at last, an apartment became obtainable here, allowing me to purchase it. However, I’m aware that some may hold preconceived notions about my decision.

In other locations, the impressive New York dwelling that Lily is vacating boasts a captivating tiger-themed home cinema and a high-end kitchen designed with references to The Godfather.

Furthermore, it offers elegantly designed Parisian-themed bedrooms adorned with flowers, and an impressive walk-in closet stocked with luxury clothing brands.

In the year 2023, Lily (formerly married to David) worked together with interior designer Billy Cotton and architect Ben Bischoff to finish renovations on their shared property. They welcomed Architectural Digest for a guided tour of the newly refurbished space once the project was completed.

In May, Lily confessed that she was experiencing deep sadness and loneliness in her home in New York City, sharing her feelings honestly after her break-up.

The musician, who announced her breakup with David in January, shared that she’s been feeling quite weighed down, as she feels rather unoccupied in this city because there isn’t much for her here.

She moved to Brooklyn in 2020 to be closer to David, enrolling her daughters in local schools.

During a brief hiatus from social media, the artist known for her hit song “Smile,” mentioned that she currently finds herself with a void, since she is no longer engaging in endless scrolling through negative content.

After Lily suspected David of infidelity on the dating app where they first connected, their separation occurred subsequently.

Lily was deeply distressed when it was rumored that she found out the actor had a hidden account on the exclusive celebrity dating platform, Raya.

The famous singer created her own account on the dating app, feigning interest in meeting other women. It is claimed that she discovered David had previously established a profile there. Reports suggest he was actively using the app for at least a month.

In an effort to comfort her during this difficult time, Lily started smoking on stage as she navigated the tension following the breakup.

Currently, the popular singer-actress can be seen portraying the troubled Hedda Gabler at the Theatre Royal Bath.

She managed to persuade the play’s director, Matthew Dunster, to allow her to use an e-cigarette on stage as she is dealing with personal issues in her own life.

In my fervent excitement, I couldn’t help but approach Matthew during our rehearsals and inquire, “Might there be a scene where she’s vaping?” To my delight, he agreed with a casual, “Yeah,” setting the stage for what I hope will be an unforgettable moment.

It seems Matthew is being kind by offering help, such as giving her a vape or some extra time, to lighten her load during a difficult time.
