Lil Baby arrested in Vegas on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon without permit

As a seasoned movie critic who’s seen more than a few biopics about troubled musicians, I can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu when I hear about Lil Baby’s latest run-in with the law. The life of a rap star is often fraught with drama and controversy, and it seems that Lil Baby’s journey is no exception.

Rapper Lil Baby was arrested Monday in Las Vegas and is potentially facing a gun charge.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Dominique Jones, known as the rapper behind “Drip Too Hard” and “Yes Indeed,” was taken into custody for allegedly carrying a hidden weapon without a proper permit.

On Monday, at approximately 5 a.m., a musician was taken into custody following an occurrence in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, which is located at the northern end of the famous Las Vegas Strip. At first, law enforcement did not provide further information about the situation.

On Tuesday, both TMZ and Rolling Stone published articles stating that a 29-year-old individual was captured on camera receiving a firearm within the Encore hotel.

According to a local NBC News report, Jones was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and then freed after paying a $5,000 bond. He is expected to appear in court again on October 1st.

On Tuesday, Jones’ legal representatives told The Times that he holds a legitimate permit for concealed carry of weapons in the state of Georgia.

“We’re currently looking into the details and circumstances leading up to his arrest in Las Vegas, as stated by lawyers Drew Findling and David Chesnoff.”

These requirements are administered at the county level. As per the U.S. Concealed Carry Association, these permits aren’t just handed out; they are issued based on an applicant passing specific criteria. Importantly, Nevada does not recognize concealed carry weapon permits from Georgia, California, and nearly two dozen other states.
