- Sony and Tencent reach a confidential settlement, abruptly ending the Horizon copyright lawsuit.
- Light of Motiram disappears from Steam and Epic Games Store without any public explanation.
- What once looked delayed till 2028 now appears completely shut down, but the official website remains.
It recently seemed like the game Light of Motiram was indefinitely delayed, possibly until 2028, due to legal issues. However, things have moved quickly. Sony and Tencent have secretly resolved their lawsuit, and the open-world survival game has largely disappeared from the public eye.
The case is dismissed permanently, which might close the door on the Light of Motiram’s release plans
The two companies have settled their dispute privately, and the lawsuit has been officially closed, with no possibility of it being brought back to court.
Sean Durkin, Head of Communications for Tencent Americas, told The Verge that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and Tencent have privately resolved their dispute and won’t be making any further public statements about it.

You’ll notice right away that Light of Motiram is no longer available on Steam or the Epic Games Store. The game’s website still has links to the stores, but clicking the Steam link now takes you to the Steam homepage instead of the game’s page.
Sony first sued Light of Motiram in July, claiming the game borrowed too many elements from the Horizon series – everything from the overall world to the appearance of the main character, who was prominently featured in marketing. Considering how heated the legal battle had become recently, the quick resolution came as a surprise.
Both companies were getting ready for a significant court case in January 2026, and Tencent had paused marketing and testing. Most people thought the game’s release would be pushed back to late 2027 or 2028. However, the lawsuit ended unexpectedly, and the details weren’t made public.

If you’ve been anticipating the release of Light of Motiram, or were considering waiting until 2028, recent developments suggest its future is uncertain. It might not be released at all. And even if it is, the game will likely need significant changes to its concept and visuals.
