As a dedicated fan of the Horizon series and someone who has spent countless hours traversing post-apocalyptic landscapes teeming with mechanical beasts, I can’t help but feel a thrill running down my spine at the prospect of Light of Motiram. The similarities between it and Horizon Zero Dawn are undeniable, but that’s like saying a sunflower and a daisy are the same because they both have petals – sure, they’re in the same family, but each has its unique charm.

Tencent Games has begun the private testing stage for their open-world survival game titled “Light Of Motiram,” which is created by Polaris Quest. This announcement was made on November 30, 2024. The game plans to release on Android, iOS, PC, and PS5 platforms upon its official launch.

Light Of Motiram brings open world exploration inspired by similarly themed titles

If you’re unfamiliar with it, Light Of Motiram is an adventure game that takes place in a world after a catastrophe, where vast machinery and untouched wilderness reign supreme. It offers an open-ended experience for exploration and survival.

In this exciting adventure, you’ll traverse various breathtaking terrains such as lush rainforests teeming with life, desolate deserts, and majestic mountains blanketed in snow. As you journey, encounter fascinating creatures known as Mechanimals, unearth ancient mysteries, and finally, reveal the enigmas surrounding MOTIRAM.

I’m quite fond of the Horizon series, with a particular soft spot for Horizon Zero Dawn, and this new game, Light of Motiram, seems to have many parallels with it, even in its main character. This piques my interest and makes me eager to play it once it’s released. Moreover, while it takes some inspiration from Palword, what really grabs my attention is the chance to manage and nurture over 100 distinct Mechanimals that the game offers.

The devs have launched the invite-only Supernova Test, and if you qualified for the test, you can check their download guide for the test. And if you applied for the recruitment, you will receive a permanent limited title after the public beta, even if you are not qualified for this test.

Here’s all the details regarding the test:

  • Test Duration: The test is live now and will run until December 25, 2024.
  • Test Type: It is a limited number, free file deletion test.
  • Test platform: The test is available on Android, iOS and PC.

The devs have also shared the configuration requirements for the test. For iOS devices, you need to have iPhone 13 Pro or newer, or an iPad with 6GB RAM or more. If you are using Android, it must have Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1, Gen2, Gen3, Dimensity 9200+, 9300, along with 8GB RAM or more. Finally, for PC, you need NVIDIA RTX 3060 and Intel Core i7 10700 or better models, along with 16gb RAM and SSD.

The game looks very promising although many people are calling it a rip-off. It features stunning graphics, detailed character models, fun combat mechanics, and impressive visuals and animation. I am looking forward to how this test phase goes.
