Liam Payne's manager, two hotel workers charged in One Direction singer's death

As a longtime fan of One Direction and Liam Payne’s solo work, I was deeply saddened to hear about his untimely demise. Having followed his career closely for years, I felt a personal connection to him and his music. His struggles with mental health and addiction were not hidden, and it was inspiring to see him openly discuss these issues and seek help.

However, upon reading the details of the investigation into his death, my heart goes out to his family and friends who must be suffering immensely. It’s a tragic reminder that even those with seemingly perfect lives can struggle internally. The accusations against his representative and the hotel managers are shocking and heartbreaking, as they were supposed to protect him and ensure his well-being.

In my opinion, it’s important to remember Liam Payne not just for his talent but also for his courage in sharing his struggles with the world. His legacy will live on through his music, and I hope that his story inspires others to seek help when they need it.

On a lighter note, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the irony of Liam Payne’s collaborator pulling a last-minute U-turn on releasing their song “Do No Wrong” after fan backlash. If only we could have that power in real life, maybe we could have prevented Liam’s tragic end and ensured he did no wrong to himself. Rest in peace, Liam. You will be greatly missed.

It was confirmed on Monday by Argentine authorities that a representative for Liam Payne has been accused of manslaughter, following the veteran member of One Direction’s death in October.

Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office declared in a statement on Friday that Judge Laura Graciela Bruniard has indicted five individuals, including Payne’s representative (known as “R.L.N.”), the hotel manager, and head of reception at the Buenos Aires hotel where the British singer tragically fell to his death, for manslaughter charges related to the pop singer’s demise.

A hotel worker and a waiter, who became acquainted with the singer at a restaurant, are accused of providing him with illegal narcotics.

Originally a member of the internationally renowned boy band One Direction on “The X Factor”, Payne tragically passed away on October 16th, following a fall from a balcony at CasaSur Palermo Hotel. At the time of his death, he was only 31 years old. Medical examiners later confirmed that his demise was due to severe injuries and bleeding, both internal and external, sustained during the fall.

According to Liam Payne, along with his friends and colleagues, it appears that the departed pop star battled addiction amidst the glare of fame.

In November, authorities revealed that traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescribed antidepressant were found in Payne’s system at the time of his fall. At that point, the prosecution was contemplating whether to rule out the option of suicide as a potential cause.

In a statement on Monday, the prosecutor’s office outlined the suspected involvement of two individuals – a hotel employee known as “E.D.P.” and a waiter named “B.N.P.” – in the death of Payne. It is alleged that these individuals provided Payne with cocaine on several occasions while he was in Buenos Aires, which ultimately resulted in his demise. Two weeks prior to this incident, Payne had traveled to Argentina to attend a concert by his ex-bandmate Niall Horan in October.

Based on the announcement made on Monday, it’s claimed that Payne’s representative neglected their responsibilities towards the singer in terms of care, support, and guidance. Prosecutors argue that R.L.N. left the singer unattended, even though they were aware he couldn’t take care of himself, and had prior knowledge about Payne’s battles with addiction.

According to the prosecutor’s office, it is claimed that Payne was forcibly taken to his third-floor room by a trio before his passing. The hotel manager, identified as “G.A.M.”, and the head of reception, “E.R.G.”, who are alleged to have been part of this group, should have ensured Payne’s safety by keeping him away from hazards, in the company of others, and seeking medical help for him until it could be provided, as stated by the prosecutor’s office.

Liam Payne’s former band members from One Direction, including Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik, attended a private funeral ceremony with him and his family on Wednesday.

On Monday, Judge Bruniard stated that the hotel management didn’t intentionally cause harm regarding Payne’s demise, but they were negligent in allowing him to be escorted to his room and transported there.

According to Bruniard, they had taken an action that was not legally acceptable, and the outcome – Payne’s death – was exactly what could be expected from such an unlawful risk.

In this situation, R.L.N. stands accused of manslaughter, as he took on a role of surety or guarantee for the Payne family, according to Bruniard’s statement.

Essentially, Payne’s representative and the hotel management unintentionally played a role in the circumstances that led to Payne’s death, either through actions they took or things they failed to do, as stated on Monday.

In relation to the drugs found in Payne’s possession before his demise, the two individuals accused of supplying these drugs have been ordered into pre-trial custody. Conversely, R.L.N. and the pair of hotel managers, who are also implicated, were charged without pre-trial detention, as stated by the prosecutor’s office.

Just hours following Sam Pounds’ announcement that the collaboration with Liam Payne, titled ‘Do No Wrong’, would be released on Friday, he retracted his statement due to negative responses from fans.

Over a month following the demise of Payne, his ex-bandmates, relatives, and friends convened for a funeral service in England. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Horan were present at the ceremony situated northwest of London. Additionally, “X Factor” judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole (mother to Payne’s young son) attended, as well as his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.

After One Direction took a break in 2016, Payne focused on his solo career too. He put out tracks like “Strip That Down,” “Bedroom Floor,” and “Teardrops.” Additionally, he collaborated with musicians such as Quavo, Ed Sheeran, and Charlie Puth.

In his 2023 YouTube video, Payne candidly discussed his personal battles with mental health issues and substance abuse, sharing that at the time of the vlog, he had been abstinent for six months.
