One Direction’s Tom Parker tragically passed away in Buenos Aires at the age of 31. He fell from a balcony on the third floor of the Casa Sur Palmero Hotel on October 16, 2024.

Kate announced in a TikTok video on Wednesday that she’ll be in Miami on an influencer trip for her two-year anniversary with Liam.

Kate explained that while she initially hesitated to accept the trip invitation due to the timing, she felt her late husband, Liam, would have wanted her to go.

She responded by saying she feels constantly criticized, no matter what she does. She anticipated that if she made the video, people would inevitably assume she *had* to, and criticize her for it.

If I hadn’t documented the trip in a video, people would have assumed the worst – that I was deeply upset and staying home to grieve.

I’ve thought it over, and I know Liam would want me to go. I don’t have any plans for the 16th, so I’ll be staying at my apartment.

Reflecting on the first anniversary of his passing, Kate shared that the week would be difficult, filled with a lot of complex feelings. She explained that grief isn’t a single experience, but rather comes and goes in unpredictable waves.

October 16th marks the anniversary of my partner’s passing. As I’ve shared before, I find it helpful to stay busy during difficult times like these. Keeping active and occupied helps me stay positive and focused.

Spending my days inactive, just lying in bed or sitting around, really isn’t good for my mental wellbeing.

This brings back difficult memories from last year, but I’m finally feeling more hopeful about the future now.

I was invited on a two-night trip sponsored by a brand. It sounds really relaxing and healthy – definitely not a party scene, which I wouldn’t enjoy. The itinerary includes things like Pilates, brunches, and hanging out by the pool.

Kate revealed the trip is to Miami, and explained she’s not comfortable with flying right now.

It felt like fate that this trip was so close to home – just a 20-minute drive from my apartment.

Kate posted a heartfelt video on Tuesday remembering the last time she saw the singer, marking the anniversary of that day.

Remembering her two weeks with her boyfriend in Argentina and their emotional farewell at the airport brought tears to her eyes. She’d had to leave him to return home to the US, and saying goodbye had been incredibly difficult.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year. October 12th was the last day I got to be with Liam, and I’m sharing this not to dwell on the sadness, but to remember him.

I’m completely numb today, honestly. It’s a strange feeling – I’ve never felt this disconnected before. I feel like I wouldn’t even react if something startling happened, like being slapped.

I don’t always show a lot of emotion, and that’s okay. I’m making this video to emphasize how crucial it is to tell the people you care about how much you love them. I know I say it often, but you never know what the future holds.

She described her final moments with Liam, recalling how she told him how much she loved and would miss him on the last day they spent together in Argentina before she left. She remembered sitting on the couch while telling him this, with his car parked in the driveway.

‘Honestly, it’s so weird to look back at because it was such a long heartfelt goodbye.’

With a shaky voice, Kate recounted how he had told her, “Kaitlin, you’re going to miss your flight if you keep acting like you’ll never see me again.”

I didn’t realize it, but that was the last time I would ever see him. I’m just really grateful that Liam and I had that final goodbye the way we did.

She concluded the video with a heartfelt message to her fans: ‘Life is unpredictable, so make sure to tell your family and friends how much you care about them, and cherish them today.’

Kate cut her trip to Argentina short and returned home, originally stating she needed to look after her and her partner’s adopted dog, Nala.

A probe into the death of Liam remains ongoing nearly a year on.

The official cause of his death was determined to be polytrauma, meaning he suffered multiple serious injuries.

After the incident, Liam’s friend Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores, hotel operator Gilda Martin, and receptionist Esteban Grassi were initially charged with manslaughter, but the charges were eventually dismissed.

Ezequiel Pereyra, a 22-year-old hotel employee, and Braian Paiz, a 25-year-old waiter, are facing charges for allegedly providing cocaine to the singer.

A trial hasn’t been scheduled for the two suspects yet. Argentinian authorities are still reviewing a large amount of evidence, including 800 hours of CCTV footage, as well as data from mobile phones and laptops.

Liam died from significant injuries, both inside and outside his body. A drug and alcohol test also revealed he had cocaine, alcohol, and an antidepressant in his system when he died.

I was so excited to hear that Liam was in Buenos Aires! He was there on vacation with Kate, and they even went to see Niall’s concert – it was amazing to see them all together, especially supporting one of their own from their old band!

Kate returned to the United States four days before he died, but Liam decided to stay in Argentina and prolong his trip.

Reports suggest he began drinking heavily and using drugs. He was allegedly asked to leave the Palacio Duhau, Park Hyatt, due to complaints about disturbing other guests, and then checked into the CasaSur Palmero Hotel.

Shortly before he died, witnesses said the singer was acting strangely. CCTV footage appears to show hotel staff carrying him out of the lobby.

Just before 5 p.m., the hotel manager contacted Argentinian authorities, claiming Liam was intoxicated and had damaged his room. The manager also voiced concerns that the singer might hurt himself.

Shortly after, a loud noise came from the hotel courtyard, and Liam was discovered there. Paramedics were called again.

His passing deeply saddened music lovers around the world, and fans gathered for memorial events in countries like the UK, the US, and Argentina, as well as many other places.
