Over the weekend, Liam Payne’s former partner Sophia Smith tied the knot with James Bridgwood in a grand wedding ceremony held in London.

From 2013 onwards, the former One Direction band member and the influential personality, both aged 30, were in a relationship. They had been friends since their school days in Wolverhampton, but parted ways in October 2015.

On Monday, she posted an update on Instagram, looking stunning in a sophisticated high-neck dress while sharing a sweet kiss with her newlywed spouse.

Sophia teamed the elegant A-line number with a dramatic veil and styled her hair into a sleek bun. 

The newlywed couple struck a pose for photos atop Hotel Cafe Royal, with the bride excitedly writing on social media, “Now Mr & Mrs! Thank you @cranberryblueevents for making our special day absolutely perfect!! xxx

Sophia and James, who got engaged in December, welcomed the birth of their daughter, Angelina, in April 2023.

At the moment they announced their engagement, Sophia delightfully revealed the joyous news by sharing a charming, black-and-white video capturing the proposal moment.

She captioned the update: ‘Yes a million times over 25.12.24.’

The couple was noticeably kneeling on the floor, surrounded by rose petals and a bottle of champagne, indicative of them celebrating together.

Liam and Sophia first encountered each other while attending school together. However, it wasn’t until the year 2013 that their relationship began. Unfortunately, their romance came to an end in October of 2015.

He stated on The Sun On Sunday previously: ‘I am deeply saddened about separating from Sophia. However, in the pursuit of doing what’s best for someone else, it’s often wiser to act against one’s heart and instead choose what benefits them more.’

The unexpected breakup left fans stunned, given that only a few weeks prior, Liam had revealed they had discussions about getting married.

On October 16, Liam, who was only 31 years old, tragically passed away following a fall from a third-story balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires.

The cause of his death was revealed as ‘polytrauma,’ which refers to the condition where an individual sustains numerous severe injuries throughout their body.

On December 17th, a hearing at the Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court was informed that it could take a while to determine the precise cause of the 31-year-old’s death.

Five individuals are facing charges following the fatal fall of Payne from a balcony on the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina.

According to previous reports from Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office, the manager of the hotel, a receptionist, and a friend of Payne are currently facing charges for manslaughter.

The news reports mention Gilda Martin as a hotel manager, Esteban Grassi as a receptionist, and Roger Nores as a friend of Payne. Additionally, two other individuals are accused of drug trafficking.

According to court records, it’s claimed that Nores is charged with manslaughter because he reportedly left Liam in a dangerous situation, understanding that Liam couldn’t take care of himself and was struggling with several addictions.

Additionally, hotel worker Ezequiel Pereyra and restaurant server Braian Paiz are facing accusations for distributing cocaine.

The investigation into Payne’s death in the UK has been postponed until a preliminary hearing at the coroner’s court on November 6.
