Liam Hemsworth Does Not Get Why Chris Hemsworth Is Up To Shenanigans Like Learning Drums With Ed Sheeran For New Show: ‘Seems Like A Crazy Idea’

The Hemsworth brothers – Chris, Liam, and Luke – are famous for their good looks, playful rivalry, and sometimes shocking behavior. While they aren’t known for being musically gifted, Chris recently attempted to play the drums alongside Ed Sheeran, and his brother Liam had a very relatable reaction.

Liam Hemsworth recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss his new role in The Witcher, which will be available on Netflix in 2025. During the conversation, Fallon and Hemsworth also talked about Chris Hemsworth’s surprise drum performance with Ed Sheeran. Liam explained that Chris had absolutely no prior drumming experience.

I was completely surprised by what happened. I actually asked him how it came about, and I told him I thought it was a really risky idea. But somehow, he made it work! He’d never played the drums before, but he’s been doing this show where he quickly learns new skills and performs them. He’d previously mentioned wanting to learn drums for a performance with Ed. Then, out of the blue, he texted me on a Friday night – I was in London and he was in Romania – and asked me to fly in because he was playing with Ed that night.

Chris Hemsworth, known for playing Thor, stars in the National Geographic show Limitless: Live Better Now, which you can watch with a Disney+ subscription. This new series follows up on his 2022 show, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, where he explored ways to live a longer, healthier life through six challenging experiences. Limitless: Live Better Now continues this theme, with Hemsworth tackling new challenges to show us practical ways to improve our lives today.

Liam Hemsworth shared that supporting his brother, even while questioning his choices, meant showing up for him. Specifically, he made sure to attend his brother’s first performance as Ed Sheeran’s drummer. As Liam explained, he barely had time to travel from London to see the show, but he prioritized being there.

I arrived just ten minutes before he went on stage. I went backstage and immediately asked him how he was doing and why he’d decided to do that. [laughs] I have to give him credit, but he’s really just making things more stressful for himself.

When it comes to family, anything goes, and Liam Hemsworth and his brother enjoyed spending Halloween together. Liam is also used to dealing with pressure, as he’s recently taken on the role of Geralt in The Witcher after Henry Cavill. However, that’s different from the intense experience of performing as a drummer in front of a huge, live audience.

While his brother has showcased musical talent alongside Ed Sheeran, Liam Hemsworth doesn‘t appear to have similar plans. However, despite his first season of The Witcher only recently debuting on Netflix in late October, it seems his role as Geralt of Rivia might already be finished. Filming for the fifth and final season of The Witcher began wrapping up earlier this fall.

Although Chris Hemsworth is famous for playing Thor in the Marvel movies, his work with National Geographic and Disney+ goes beyond that role. He’s already done several projects with them, including the first season of Limitless in 2022, as well as Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember and Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth. He’s proven he has talents and interests that extend far beyond wielding the hammer, Mjölnir!
