As a seasoned music enthusiast with decades of concert-going under my belt, I must say that Liam Gallagher’s quip about playing at Lidl if Co-op Live were to cancel his Manchester performances has me chuckling. The British sense of humor never ceases to amuse, and this playful banter is just another example of it.

Fans have relentlessly teased Liam Gallagher, likening his appearance to someone who works at a discount supermarket after he sported a £400 red, yellow, and blue jacket from Berghaus.

52-year-old Liam Gallagher, known for being the lead singer of Oasis, is featured in a fresh photoshoot by the fashion brand, commemorating ‘memorable reunions in 2024’, prior to his highly anticipated tour with his brother Noel, aged 57, next year.

Liam had owned a jacket by the esteemed outerwear brand in the 1990s before Oasis found fame.

People couldn’t help but point out that the jacket’s vibrant colors strongly resembled the emblem of the economical supermarket chain.

One user wrote on Instagram: ‘Lidl are asking for their staff back‘ and emblazoned their comment with two crying-laughing emoji.

A second wrote: ‘Proper Lidl workers jacket’

Involved too were the Lidl Irish social media team, posting a pair of puzzled emojis instead of a clear reply.

In a harsher remark, one spectator wondered aloud: ‘Why is Liam reminiscent of a Venezuelan political leader?’ or simply, ‘Why does Liam resemble a Venezuelan politician?’

However, it appears that some admirers appreciated the vibrant-hued garment, with one expressing: “Fashionable jacket, the Berghaus was the coat to own during the initial rave era.

Even music star Professor Green gave his approval, and left three fire emojis.

1) This coat is priced at £400, and it follows the announcement by the Wonderwall singer of a planned concert at the supermarket. (Keep in mind that this paraphrase maintains the chronological order of events from the original sentence.)

Liam had planned to play shows at the problematic Co-op Live venue in Manchester on June 15th and 16th, as well as June 27th and 28th, for his Definitely Maybe anniversary tour.

However, following the cancellation of a string of performances, such as those by comedian Peter Kay and pop star Olivia Rodrigo, the performer opted to take the stage at Lidl instead.

In response to a fan’s question about alternative plans if Co-op Live cancels his Manchester shows, the artist humorously replied, “I’ll do a gig at Lidl.

The brand, who recently collaborated with former EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon for their new advert, are known for their tongue-in-cheek social media posts.

On August 27, it was officially announced that Oasis will reunite, ending years of speculation among fans who had believed the band might never come back together.

However, Noel and Liam Gallagher will come together again for their initial UK performance since their separation, taking place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4, 2025. They have also disclosed who their opening act will be.

The last time the brothers performed together was on August 22 2009 at V Festival in Staffordshire.
