Lewis Capaldi gives fans a health update and says he’s feeling ‘the best he’s felt in a long time’ as Scotsman opens up on ‘the worst moment of his life’ at Glastonbury in 2023

Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi shared that he’s now off his antidepressant medication, expressing that he’s experiencing the “best he’s felt in quite some time.

Nearly two weeks ago, the cherished Scotsman, age 28, came back to the music scene with a powerful and heartfelt performance at the prestigious Glastonbury festival.

Reflecting back, it’s been nearly two years since I found myself in a similar spot, standing on that same stage, needing a much-needed break. This pause allowed me the time and space to prioritize my wellness – addressing both my physical and mental health concerns. It was a crucial step towards my personal growth and professional resilience.

After stepping back from the spotlight and the stresses associated with stardom for a while, Lewis shares that he’s currently thriving, and he has discontinued his use of the antidepressant Sertraline.

‘I’m not on antidepressants anymore,’ he told fans on a livestream.

It was extremely challenging for me to discontinue taking Sertraline. To put it simply, I persevered through the process of stopping its use, although we can save the details about that experience for another time.

‘This is happy stuff, I’m trying to share less.’

He later added: ‘I’ve felt the best I’ve felt in a long time through therapy.

Accepting my tendency towards anxiety as a constant part of me is a significant step. It’s more about how I react to anxiety rather than the anxiety itself.

Lewis, who made a comeback with his latest hit single “Survive” reaching the top spot, shared some insights on his upcoming Glastonbury set in 2023, describing it as ‘an incredibly difficult and emotional experience for me.’

He openly confessed: “I realized around the second song at Glastonbury that I was unable to continue performing.

On the stage, I found myself operating automatically, lost in thought with a sense of distance that felt like being a thousand miles away. Watching the recording later left me feeling melancholic. To my mind, I had concluded my performance permanently.

Instead of taking a compulsory pause, I deliberately decided to take a breather to alleviate some stress, which in turn, helped me concentrate more on improving.

I was making progress towards my goal. If a movie represented this journey, I would have reached the final scene and accomplished it. However, reality didn’t turn out as I had imagined.

– What I longed to do the most ended up making me feel the most miserable. Seeing it only confirms that he seems utterly detached and living through one of his lowest moments.

The vocalist also opened up about the topic of therapy, expressing his struggles with finding the drive to participate in those appointments.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined forces with BetterHelp to extend a generous gift to my dedicated followers: 734 hours of complimentary therapy sessions. This figure signifies the number of days I took off from the music scene, and now I want to use that time to help those who have supported me throughout my journey. Let’s make a positive impact together!

He admitted that during therapy sessions, he had been dishonest. He shared that he would say whatever he believed they desired to hear or things he found online just to expedite the process and leave sooner.

Every week, it’s a battle for me to muster the energy to attend therapy sessions, or even just open my computer to chat with my therapist. Sometimes, it feels incredibly challenging.

In its debut week, Lewis’s fresh composition titled “Survive,” openly discussing his battles from the last two years, sold an impressive 68,500 copies, outranking other artists such as Sabrina Carpenter and claiming the top spot on the charts.

It also marked the singer’s biggest first week ever in another landmark achievement.

‘This week, Survive has become the UK’s top song, and I can’t help but extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who’s been playing it online or downloading it. It truly makes a world of difference.’

Returning after some time, I find myself overwhelmed by the flood of affection and encouragement you’ve shown me. It’s truly remarkable!

‘I can’t thank everybody enough for all the kind words since Glastonbury – and now this!

‘It’s been the best week of my life. I hope you continue to enjoy the song, it means a lot to me.’

On the day his track was launched, Lewis appeared onstage at Glastonbury, expressing feelings of gratitude to fans: “Two years ago, I wasn’t certain if I’d return to this, but here I am!

He sang several well-known favorites, and at one point, he struggled to hold back tears while performing “Survive” for the first time in public, surrounded by numerous admirers.

Emotional fans were spotted shedding tears, shouting his name, and eventually uniting to sing along to the popular song “Someone You Loved” together.

In a touching address, Lewis expressed: ‘It’s wonderful to return to Glastonbury. I won’t delve into many words today for fear of becoming emotional, but my gratitude knows no bounds for your presence here.’

Give it another try! Today’s session will be brief, but I’m eager to complete what I left unfinished during our previous meeting. It seems that my plans were not so well-hidden after all.

This week, amid the triumphs of his recent performance and the emotional impact of his latest single, the Scotsman unveiled plans for a 10-date concert tour.

This year, I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that the artist behind “Someone You Love” is coming to my city! They’ll be gracing stages in Sheffield, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Nottingham, and not just one, but two days at the 02. I can hardly contain my excitement!

Lewis announced via Instagram that these performances would represent his entire tour schedule for the U.K., Ireland, and Europe in the current year.
