Lewis Capaldi announces 2025 Australian summer tour dates

This upcoming summer, Scottish pop sensation Lewis Capaldi is set to make his Australian comeback after a five-year absence.

Over the last two years, the artist who brought us “Someone You Loved” has been rather quiet, but now, following an impressive performance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, they’re making a triumphant return with renewed energy and intensity.

Maintaining the pace, Lewis (age 28) is set to come back to Australia in December for five main performances.

Lewis starts his tour down under with concerts in New Zealand first, and then kicks off his Australian leg at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on December 4. After that, he’ll perform at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on December 6.

The tour will proceed to the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and Adelaide Entertainment Centre on December 12 and 15 respectively, and it will conclude at Perth’s RAC Arena on December 17 (Wednesday).

In 2019, Lewis had been the last to visit Australia for the Falls Festival. However, his Australian fans were left disappointed when a planned tour of Australia was unfortunately cancelled.

For those who purchased tickets for the 2023 shows that were postponed, we are offering a special advantage: A pre-sale opportunity exclusively available to previous buyers starting at 11am on Thursday, July 10.

In the meantime, the Secret Sounds presale begins at 11am on Friday, the 11th of July. The general public sale starts at noon on Monday, the 14th of July.

News of Lewis’ return to Australian shores was met with much excitement from fans on Instagram.

Responding to the Live Nation announcement, someone said: “It seems the world is getting better. We’ve surely been longing for you, @lewiscapaldi.

others anticipated that additional shows might be announced, possibly including: ‘A single performance in Melbourne isn’t going to suffice; those who attended previous events will likely secure the tickets before others have a chance.’

In 2023, Lewis expressed deep regret and issued an apology to his Australian fans via Instagram, informing them that he was suspending his tours indefinitely.

Originally, he was scheduled to perform at concerts in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne, followed by a stop at the Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay.

Instead, the Scot had to cancel all his performances in Australia because he was continually battling issues related to his Tourette’s syndrome.

He expressed his sincere apologies to those who had planned to attend a show by the end of the year, as he needs time to regain his health so that he can deliver a performance that meets everyone’s high expectations.

He stated, ‘Performing for you each night was always my greatest dream, which makes this decision the hardest I’ve ever faced in my life. I’ll return as quickly as humanly possible.’

Fans weren’t taken aback by the decision since the artist known for “Someone You Loved” struggled with finishing his 2023 Glastonbury performance.

In the heat of my performance, I found myself choked up as my involuntary movements made it challenging to finish the songs. However, the audience’s incredible spirit shone through as they took over, singing along with heartfelt support.

As a committed performer, I reluctantly took a three-week break prior to my performance on the Pyramid Stage, yet I soon realized that this respite was insufficient. Consequently, I regretfully canceled the subsequent 24 live shows I had planned.

He mentioned that in the past, he could fully appreciate shows like this, and he had been hoping that a three-week absence would help him feel better, as stated in his message.

In essence, what I want to convey is that although I’m making efforts to adapt to the effects of Tourette’s, it’s clear that I need to devote more attention towards maintaining my mental and physical well-being. This is crucial so I can continue enjoying all the things I cherish for many years ahead.

‘I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to take some time off while others can’t, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks to my wonderful family, friends, colleagues, healthcare providers, and everyone who has been so supportive throughout our journey, especially during this past year when I’ve relied on your kindness more than ever.’

Pondering over his 2023 Glastonbury show, Lewis, partnered with BetterHelp – the biggest online counseling service for a fresh marketing initiative, confessed that he believed it might mark the end of his performances.

He admitted, “I believe I recognized two songs into my performance at Glastonbury that this wasn’t something I could pull off.” He went on to explain, “Glastonbury is quite significant – you might say it’s the most significant event – and performing on the Pyramid Stage meant it was a massive show.

‘The second song, I felt something along the lines of, I can’t continue with this behavior that harms both myself and others. Audiences are attending concerts, and it’s not the experience they should have. At that point, I thought, “I’m quitting for good.”‘

After making an announcement about taking a break from music to focus on his mental wellbeing, he now feels that this hiatus was not just about his mental health, but also a necessary step away from the entire music industry as a whole.

He explained that instead of taking a break as a means to solely improve, he felt compelled to take a break because it was necessary for him, providing some relief from the mounting tension.
