Less VTuber streams in Q3 2025, incoming hololive x Twitch collab

As a big VTuber fan, I noticed things got a little shaky in the third quarter of 2025 – viewership and time people were watching seemed to drop a bit. But hey, there was some exciting news too! hololive announced they’re teaming up with Twitch, which is awesome and could really shake things up!

Virtual YouTubers, or VTubers, are now a common sight online. While 2025 has been a great year overall for VTubers, viewership and streaming hours decreased slightly during the summer months. Despite this, COVER Corporation recently announced “holoday,” a new partnership with Twitch.

VTuber streams dip in Q3 2025

A new report from Streams Charts and VStats looked at how many people watched VTuber streams during the third quarter of 2025. Viewership hours went down compared to the second quarter, falling from 527.55 million to 462.46 million – a decrease of 12.3%. The report suggests several reasons for this drop.

Overall, people streamed for fewer hours, which naturally led to a decrease in total viewing time. This period also saw significant changes in the VTuber world, most notably with the issues at VShojo, which resulted in several creators leaving the agency to stream on their own.

2025 was a fantastic year for VTubers. The industry saw record growth throughout the year, and the third quarter’s performance was as strong as anything seen in 2024.

When it comes to popular VTubers, Usada Pekora and Sakura Miko from hololive are the most-watched, followed closely by Kuzuha from Nijisanji in third place.

Among English-speaking VTubers, Ironmouse and Michi Mochievee are currently the most popular, with Koseki Bijou from hololive EN close behind. Other notable VTubers include Deme, who is from the Philippines and ranked 8th, and the AI VTuber Neuro-sama, created by vedal987, at 10th.

This report provides detailed data about VTubing over the last few months, covering viewer demographics like gender and location. You can find the complete report here.

holoday: Twitch x hololive production

In late October 2025, COVER Corporation announced holoday, a first-of-its-kind partnership between their VTuber group, hololive production, and the streaming service Twitch.

On November 20th, hololive Indonesia, hololive English, and HOLOSTARS English are planning a major presence on Twitch, aiming to dominate the platform’s front page.

According to data from Streams Charts and VStats, hololive accounts for 18.5% of all VTuber viewing hours. This makes them the second most-watched group, behind independent VTubers (42.2%), with Nijisanji close behind at 18%.

Looking at where VTubers are most popular, Twitch dominates in terms of the number of channels – 78.4% are on Twitch compared to 20.2% on YouTube. However, when it comes to how many hours people are actually watching, YouTube is actually more popular, accounting for 58.5% of all VTuber viewing time. Twitch still gets a significant share, with 31.6% of total hours watched.

While some hololive virtual YouTubers already stream on Twitch, the recent holoday event is expected to significantly increase viewership numbers for the last three months of the year.
