Lesley Manville’s popular returning spy thriller is “most exhilarating yet” – make sure you don’t miss it

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the adrenaline-fueled global espionage series, Citadel, is set to return for another season – and it promises to be an even more heart-pounding adventure!

Back in the spring of 2023, I found myself immersed in an intriguing series kickoff. As a gamer, it felt like stepping into a high-stakes mission. I was one of the agents from a defunct spy agency, struggling to recover my lost memories, all erased by Manticore, a formidable adversary.

Just a few weeks after the initial announcement, I learned that a new season is on its way! Details about when we can expect it back have been pretty slim so far.

What to Read Next

As per Deadline’s report, the second season is currently undergoing post-production and is slated for release sometime in the coming year. A more precise launch date will be shared at a future point.

Additionally, we’ve got certain storyline points indicating that the upcoming episodes will unfold a month after the initial season’s events. The narrative will focus on a group of Citadel spies who find themselves in hiding, pursued globally by Manticore operatives as they navigate off-the-grid.

As a devoted follower, I found myself drawn from my secluded sanctuary when the formidable Paulo Braga, a tycoon hailing from Brazil, menaced to unleash a devastating invention masterminded by none other than Bernard Orlick of Citadel. This compelled me to team up with an extraordinary ensemble of undercover agents, breaking the norms and redefining espionage as I knew it.

Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are set to reappear as agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, respectively, in The Citadel. Joining them will be Stanley Tucci as Bernard Orlick and Lesley Manville as Dahlia Archer.

Despite the cancellation of both spin-offs, Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny, after only one season, Amazon MGM Studios head Vernon Sanders has affirmed that the narratives from these shows will be integrated into season 2 of the original series, Citadel.

The narratives from ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ and ‘Citadel: Diana,’ which have already journeyed through India and Italy, will be integrated into the forthcoming second season of the main series, ‘Citadel’, as mentioned.”

Or more informally:

“He said that the stories from ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ and ‘Citadel: Diana,’ which traveled to India and Italy, will be combined with the upcoming second season of ‘Citadel’, the main series.

Although these popular and globally loved chapters won’t carry on independently, the second season of “Citadel” promises to be more thrilling than ever before.

In the upcoming season, we’ll be delivering an emotionally intense narrative with a captivating plot, introducing fresh characters to our stellar ensemble, and aiming for grand, cinematic quality. This will further explore the emotional odysseys of Nadia, Mason, and Orlick as they confront the formidable adversary known as Manticore.

The season as a whole has been directed by Joe Russo of “Extraction,” who collaborated with his brother Joe Russo to bring the series “Citadel” to viewers. The concept for this show was developed by writers Josh Appelbaum, known for “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” David Weil from “Hunters,” and Bryan Oh from “The Vampire Diaries.

You can currently stream the first season of “Citadel” right now on Amazon’s Prime Video, with season two set to premiere next year.

Experience the premiere of Digital Spy’s first print magazine, titled “British Comedy Legends.” You can grab a copy from your local newsstand or purchase it online for only £3.99. Enjoy the laughter!
