Leonardo DiCaprio’s $213M Crime Thriller Masterpiece Takes Over Prime Video

Leonardo DiCaprio’s new crime thriller is already a hit on Prime Video. Since premiering on the streaming service this past Saturday, it’s quickly climbed into the Top 10 most-watched movies.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars in One Battle After Another as a former revolutionary pulled back into a life of conflict when a corrupt military officer, played by Sean Penn, begins pursuing him and his daughter.

The film was released in theaters on September 26, 2025, earning $213 million globally. It then became available on HBO Max three months later, followed by its release on Prime Video.

Prime Video Subscribers Cannot Get Enough of One Battle After Another

The new movie, One Battle After Another, quickly became popular with Prime Video subscribers. It entered the Top 10 movies list at number 6 and the overall Top 10 at number 10 within just two days of its release. Just two days later, it climbed to become the second most popular movie on Prime Video, and its overall ranking improved to number 6.

As a film buff, I was definitely curious about One Battle After Another on Prime Video, especially after all the buzz at the recent Academy Awards. It really cleaned up, taking home six Oscars out of thirteen nominations! Seriously, it won Best Picture, Best Director, and even Best Supporting Actor for Penn – a huge night for the film, and one that made me want to see what all the fuss was about.

The film One Battle After Another won the very first Best Casting Oscar, a new category created since the introduction of Best Animated Feature in 2001. It triumphed over Hamnet, Marty Supreme, The Secret Agent, and Sinners to claim the prize.

Leonardo DiCaprio Reuniting With Martin Scorsese for Next Movie

Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for an Oscar for his role in One Battle After Another, marking his seventh nomination. Although he didn’t win this time, everyone is eager to see what he does next, hoping it will earn him an eighth nomination and, finally, a second Oscar. He previously won the Best Actor Oscar in 2016 for The Revenant.

Fortunately for Leonardo DiCaprio, his upcoming film will once again be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese. Production started in March on What Happens at Night, and a first glimpse of the actors playing the main characters—a married couple—was revealed at that time.

I’m so excited for Martin Scorsese’s next film, What Happens at Night! It’s been a while since his last one, Killers of the Flower Moon, which was incredible and also starred Leonardo DiCaprio. This will be the seventh time Scorsese has directed DiCaprio – they’re a fantastic duo! But it’s also cool that he’s working with Jennifer Lawrence for the first time. We don’t know when it’ll be out in theaters, but eventually it will be available to stream on Apple TV, and I can’t wait!
