The award-winning individual, aged 50 and accompanied by his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti at a glamorous wedding event, took to their primary Instagram account to share news about the safeguarding of a picturesque Chilean island named Guafo.

Following a recent uproar, the celebrity, renowned for his environmental activism, has been criticized for jetting off to Venice to participate in the nuptials of Bezos and Sanchez.

Besides posting a photo of the island, Leonardo clarified that it is now owned privately, ensuring its safety from activities like coal mining, timber logging, and other harmful industries.

The location is going to be transformed into a national park, and moreover, he emphasized that Guafo Island is essential for global biodiversity and the well-being of our entire planet.

The area will now function as a national park, while it was also pointed out that Guafo Island plays a crucial role in maintaining global biodiversity and the overall health of the Earth.

Leonardo mentioned that the islands have thriving colonies of sea birds, as well as being home to Magellanic Penguins and a colony of Endangered Sea Otters.

It is not known if DiCaprio took a private jet to the Bezos-Sanchez wedding.

As reported by The Guardian, more than ninety aircraft landed at the airport located in the charming city, with celebrities in attendance for the wedding ceremonies.

It is said that the wedding of Jeff and Lauren was estimated at a staggering $20 million, and this extravagant event even sparked demonstrations within the city of Venice.
