Leonardo DiCaprio preaches about saving the planet after being branded a ‘hypocrite’ over Jeff Bezos wedding
On a day dedicated to raising awareness about our environment, I, an ardent eco-advocate, found myself in the spotlight, not for my usual environmental efforts, but due to my recent travel choices. Over the weekend, I was accused of hypocrisy after attending Jeff Bezos’ extravagant nuptials via private jet. However, let me assure you all, my passion for our planet remains unwavering, and I continue to strive towards a sustainable future.
The award-winning individual, aged 50 and accompanied by his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti at a glamorous wedding event, took to their primary Instagram account to share news about the safeguarding of a picturesque Chilean island named Guafo.
Following a recent uproar, the celebrity, renowned for his environmental activism, has been criticized for jetting off to Venice to participate in the nuptials of Bezos and Sanchez.
Besides posting a photo of the island, Leonardo clarified that it is now owned privately, ensuring its safety from activities like coal mining, timber logging, and other harmful industries.
The location is going to be transformed into a national park, and moreover, he emphasized that Guafo Island is essential for global biodiversity and the well-being of our entire planet.
The area will now function as a national park, while it was also pointed out that Guafo Island plays a crucial role in maintaining global biodiversity and the overall health of the Earth.
DailyMail.com has reached out to DiCaprio’s rep for comment.

Leonardo mentioned that the islands have thriving colonies of sea birds, as well as being home to Magellanic Penguins and a colony of Endangered Sea Otters.
Previously known as the actor on the Titanic, this individual is vocal about his activism. A few months back in March, he publicly criticized the Albanese administration for approving the expansion of a mine in Western Australia.
As a dedicated follower, I found myself at the center of conversations on Reddit recently, where social media users accused Leonardo DiCaprio of hypocrisy. This was due to his recent trip to Italy for the Bezos-Sanchez wedding, just days after making statements about supporting Amazon’s carbon footprint reduction efforts.
One wrote, ‘Leo is an outstanding actor, yet I’ve always found it hard to accept the stories claiming he cares deeply for the environment.’
It was stated that ‘He is a hypocrite, pretending to be environmentally conscious while still using private jets and yachts for personal use. Leonardo DiCaprio has consistently shown himself to be a hypocrite and a fraud.’
‘Individuals who consistently travel by private plane and luxury yacht show little concern for the environment. They seem to advocate for conservation efforts primarily so they can maintain their opulent lifestyle.’
Another supporter added, “Affluent or well-known individuals believe their impact on others is greater than the harm they inflict on an individual level. It seems to them that they operate without consequences, as if the personal sacrifices of others offset any negative effects they might have.
‘Wow. But he’s always been a hypocrite about environmentalism,’ one additionally penned.

‘It seems to me that the positive impact of one person recycling for an entire year can be negated by just one private jet flight, which I suspect was used by many to reach this gathering. This thought leaves me feeling quite disillusioned and disappointed, truth be told.’
It is not known if DiCaprio took a private jet to the Bezos-Sanchez wedding.
DiCaprio has often been vocal about the environment and climate change.
Towards the end of last year, he prominently awarded the 2024 Hilton Humanitarian Prize to Amazon Frontlines at a high-profile ceremony.
Just before turning 50, the celebrity also finished upgrading his green mansion situated in the Hollywood Hills.
He has established his own foundation in response to the global environmental crisis, characterized as a confluence of rapid climate change, severe biodiversity loss, and escalating health problems resulting from polluted environments, according to their official site.
In the year 2022, the individual who won an Oscar looked back on the impact of global warming during a conversation with Deadline.
Over the course of my life, I’ve nurtured two profound interests – acting, as well as preserving the environment and raising awareness about the pressing issue of climate change. For the past two decades, I’ve been running a foundation dedicated to these causes.
Later on, he emphasized, “It seems there’s a global unease that those in control – the corporate sector, governments – aren’t transitioning quickly enough. In reality, we only have approximately nine years to act.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but acknowledge the environmental crusader this star is recognized as. However, it’s important to mention that he has faced criticism in the past too.
In January of this year, he and his supermodel partner traveled by private plane to Mexico, as the dangerous wildfires raged through Los Angeles.
More recently, the pair was seen in Venice during the last weekend, attending a three-day grand wedding celebration. In other words, Bezos and Sanchez got married.
I blended seamlessly among the glittering crowd at the high-profile event, sharing space with notables such as Orlando Bloom, Kim Kardashian, Tom Brady, and Sydney Sweeney, maintaining a low profile throughout the evening.

Previously on a Sunday, the actor from Inception was observed departing Venice at the airport. For his journey, he opted for a laid-back look.
He hid his face under a black hoodie, along with a pair of gray shorts and white sneakers.
As reported by The Guardian, more than ninety aircraft landed at the airport located in the charming city, with celebrities in attendance for the wedding ceremonies.
It is said that the wedding of Jeff and Lauren was estimated at a staggering $20 million, and this extravagant event even sparked demonstrations within the city of Venice.
