Leonardo DiCaprio and Mick Jagger spent an evening together in Los Angeles on Sunday. This came after DiCaprio’s new film, One Battle After Another, earned $22 million during its opening weekend in theaters.
The 50-year-old actor tried to stay out of the spotlight during the outing. He wore his signature black cap, along with a black bomber jacket and a black T-shirt.
He was accompanied by Mick of Rolling Stone, 82, who was also seen wearing a black bomber jacket over a black sweater and shirt.
Mick completed his ensemble with a pair of green slim fit trousers and some white chunky trainers.
One Battle After Another introduces Bob (played by Leonardo), a former revolutionary now living a reclusive life fueled by paranoia and substance use. He lives off-grid with his resourceful and independent daughter, Willa.
When Willa disappears and his old enemy returns, the man formerly known for his extreme views desperately searches for her. Both parent and child must now confront the repercussions of decisions they made in the past.

One Battle After Another debuted at number one in theaters, earning $22.4 million (£16.7 million) during its opening weekend. The film played in 3,634 North American theaters.
The action-thriller movie earned an additional $26.1 million (£19.4 million) from international showings, bringing its worldwide total to $48.5 million (£36 million).
Film industry analysts are giving varied reactions to the opening weekend numbers. A debut of just $20 million is usually considered weak for a movie that had a production budget of over $130 million, plus an additional $70 million spent on marketing.
However, the film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, offers a fresh, original story. This means it might take a bit more time to build suspense and captivate audiences compared to a well-established franchise.
According to David A. Gross, who leads the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research, this film could become profitable if it remains in theaters for an extended period and/or performs exceptionally well internationally. He shared this assessment with Variety.
I’m predicting this project will rack up a lot of award nominations – which is fantastic! However, that kind of recognition is usually a couple of months down the line, and unfortunately won’t give us much of a boost with this current release. It’s great for the future, but not so helpful right now. We need to focus on strategies that will impact things immediately.
Leonardo previously said he thinks box-office numbers will always be ‘important’.
The actor – one of the highest-earning movie stars globally – recognizes that streaming services are becoming more and more important. However, he still feels that going to the cinema will always be a key part of how films are experienced and enjoyed.

He shared with Variety: ‘There’s just a huge amount of content being created and so much filming happening right now – which is great, of course. But I believe theatrical box office numbers are still important because they show people are actually going to cinemas, enjoying that shared experience together.’
Paul Thomas Anderson‘s newest film, One Battle After Another, has received incredible reviews and is already being discussed as a potential Oscar contender.
The movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, an action-packed thriller inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel Vineland, has received overwhelmingly positive, five-star reviews and has even been called ‘the defining film of a generation’.
In a five-star review for The Standard, Nick Howells described the film as “the coolest, most consummately masterful movie you’re likely to see all year.” He also predicted it had “Oscars glory just oozing out of every frame.”
Although Leonardo DiCaprio often attracts audiences to big movies, critics were most excited about Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘electrifyingly improbable’ film. Many compared it to his earlier, highly praised masterpieces like Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, and Phantom Thread.
The film isn’t just receiving praise from critics; even bookmakers are impressed. Ladbrokes has dramatically shortened the odds of the movie winning the 2026 Academy Award for Best Picture, moving from 12/1 last week to an unusual and significant evens.
In One Battle After Another, Leo portrays Bob Ferguson, a troubled and unkempt revolutionary. Bob lives a paranoid life, constantly under the influence, and is living off the grid with his daughter, Willa. Willa is the child he shares with Perfidia, a character played by Teyana Taylor.
The movie centers around Bob as he joins forces with old friends to find his daughter. Benicio Del Toro plays his mentor, helping him overcome his fears and navigate this challenging journey.
This thrilling and darkly humorous story features Sean Penn as Col. Steven J. Lockjaw, the villain opposing the main character Bob, and Regina Hall as Deandra, a character who is fighting for change.
Receiving high praise from a leading figure, Steven Spielberg exclaimed: ‘What an insane movie, oh my God. There’s more action in the first hour of this than in all the other films you’ve ever directed combined. Everything is truly incredible…’
This is a really strange but surprisingly important mix of ideas. I believe its relevance has actually grown, perhaps even more so than when you first completed the screenplay, gathered your cast and crew, and started production.
In a review for The Daily Mail, Brian Viner gave the film a five-star rating and stated: ‘DiCaprio’s performance isn’t even the most memorable aspect of Paul Thomas Anderson’s wonderfully amusing and powerfully exciting movie.‘
Sean Penn dominates every moment on screen as a disturbed army officer. Initially motivated by desire, he later becomes consumed by hatred. His eventual ruin is truly shocking – one of the most memorable things you’ll witness in a movie this year.
Anderson previously created one of the most acclaimed films of the 21st century with 2007’s There Will Be Blood. This new film, which draws inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, is equally impressive.
He also stated: ‘He’s aware he’s created something remarkable, and we might next see him accepting an Academy Award.’
