Leonardo DiCaprio is skipping Actor Awards despite nomination for One Battle After Another

Leonardo DiCaprio won’t be attending the Actor Awards on Sunday, which used to be called the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The actor, age 51, recently discussed by Lisa Rinna, has been nominated for a leading actor award for his work in ‘One Battle After Another‘.

Unfortunately, a scheduling issue will prevent him from attending and competing alongside Timothée Chalamet, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Jesse Plemons in person.

Leonardo DiCaprio is currently filming a new thriller directed by Martin Scorsese in Europe, according to People magazine.

I’m so excited! He’s going to be acting alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the new film, and it’s based on a fantastic book by Peter Cameron that came out in 2020. I’ve been waiting for this adaptation for ages!

Scorsese and DiCaprio previously worked together on 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon.

Deadline reports that “What Happens At Night” tells the story of an American couple who go to Europe to adopt a baby.

They arrive at a strange hotel filled with unsettling people – a vibrant singer, a dishonest businessman, and a charismatic faith healer among them.

The couple struggle to claim their baby in the strange environment, while losing grip on reality.

Leonardo DiCaprio attended the BAFTAs on Sunday with his fellow cast members and director Paul Thomas Anderson from the movie One Battle After Another.

Okay, so he was up for Best Actor, which, honestly, he deserved! But Robert Aramayo won for ‘I Swear.’ Ugh, no offense to Robert, but seriously?! It’s just… shocking. I mean, my guy was robbed! Absolutely robbed! Still, I’m so proud of him for even being nominated, but I can’t help feeling devastated he didn’t win.

Although Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t win an award himself, his movie was named Best Film, the night’s biggest prize.

Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Benicio del Toro, and director Paul Thomas Anderson accompanied him on the red carpet.

In his acceptance speech, Anderson shared a quote from Nina Simone, stating, ‘I know what freedom is, and it’s not being afraid.’

He added, ‘So let’s keep making things without fear, it’s a good idea.’

DiCaprio and Lawrence previously worked together on 2021’s satirical climate film Don’t Look Up.

The two actors clearly have great chemistry, as was evident during their December interview with Variety’s Actors on Actors.

The actress from American Hustle playfully teased the actor about his habit of dating women significantly younger than himself, which many fans found hilarious.

A video is circulating online of Lawrence enthusiastically praising Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance as a father in the film ‘One Battle After Another,’ specifically noting how good he looked alongside Infiniti, who played his teenage daughter.

People thought his remark was a subtle criticism of his history of dating much younger women. He’s currently seeing 27-year-old model Vittoria Ceretti.

Lawrence told him, ‘It was wonderful watching you play a dad on ‘One Battle After Another.’ I’m genuinely bummed you don’t have a teenage daughter – you’re really good with one!’

While DiCaprio didn’t verbally respond to Lawrence’s remark, he did laugh.
