Netflix has announced that its new series, Vladimir, starring Leo Woodall and Rachel Weisz, will premiere in 2026. Along with the release date, the first images from the show have been revealed. The series promises a scandalous storyline and features a talented cast, potentially making it a major hit.
This eight-episode show is adapted from Julia May Jonas’s 2022 novel. Rachel Weisz stars as a professor in her 40s or 50s who’s unhappily married to another teacher, John, played by John Slattery.
Everything changes for her when her husband is accused of wrongdoing. However, things start to look up with the arrival of Vladimir (Woodall), a talented new writer, and his mysterious wife, Cynthia (Jessica Henwick), who also join the faculty.
What to Read Next
Weisz’s character quickly becomes intensely infatuated with a coworker, leading to a consuming obsession. As her personal and professional reputation are on the line, the story explores how this will affect her relationship with the main character.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting details about the upcoming series, which was first announced in March 2025. Now, Netflix has confirmed it will premiere on March 5th, according to a report from Tudum.

We’re also sharing some early photos from the show. One shows actors Weisz and Woodall walking around the university campus. Another features Woodall as Vladimir with Henwick’s character, Cynthia.
In a recent interview with Tudum, creator Weisz explained the show is a fantastical and dramatic fairy tale. He said it examines complex topics like attraction, intense infatuation, and sexuality, while also looking at issues surrounding gender dynamics and accountability on college campuses. The series will balance humorous moments with serious drama.
The story is playful and balances lightheartedness with serious themes. At its heart, it’s about the intense power of longing – the way being obsessed with Vlad energizes, excites, and inspires her.

The story explores a character reawakening after a period of inactivity. We get a direct look into her thoughts, but also how she wants us to perceive them, which isn’t quite the whole story. There’s a difference between what she’s truly thinking and the impression she’s trying to create.
Weisz is also a producer on the film, and Jonas is writing the screenplay based on her own book. The cast also includes Ellen Robertson, Matt Walsh, and Kayli Carter.
Vladimir will premiere on Netflix on 5 March.
