Leigh-Anne Pinnock fan is criticised for creating ‘disgusting’ viral death hoax as Little Mix star promotes her new single Dead And Gone

Fans of Leigh-Anne Pinnock have hit out at a viral death hoax circulating about the singer.

Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards is getting ready to launch her new song, ‘Dead and Gone,’ on October 17th. However, some promotional material created by a fan has been criticized as being highly offensive.

A false post on X (formerly Twitter) falsely claimed Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock had died. The post, shared by an account named @idolnfusion with no connection to the singer, showed her photo with a fabricated breaking news headline: ‘Little Mix Star Found Dead.’

A news ticker reads: ‘Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix is dead and gone.’

Another post from the same account showed a recreation of a murder scene, claiming sources said Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne was supposedly connected to a crime that happened at her London house, close to her swimming pool.

Video of the event seems to indicate that the Leigh-Anne people used to know and admire is completely changed.

Fans reacted negatively to the posts, with one person saying the headline appearing as a notification was “really bad PR” and felt it was insensitive, even causing them to feel startled.

Another commenter found the post deeply upsetting, saying it was disrespectful to Leigh and spoke negatively about her life. They urged the poster to remove it, emphasizing the importance of being mindful of one’s words.

Using a news format typically reserved for announcing real deaths to promote the song ‘Dead and Gone’ feels insensitive and was really unsettling. There are better ways to convey the song’s concept without referencing such a serious topic.

The account replied to the criticism, saying people were overreacting. They pointed out that the photo itself said ‘dead & gone’.

I was playfully imitating a scene from her promotional material, referencing her idea of leaving her past self behind, which she shared on Instagram with the hashtag “ctrl.alt.leigh.” I didn’t realize it would frighten anyone!

Leigh-Anne hasn’t commented herself on the posts.

She’s been building excitement for her new song all week, posting teasers and announcing: ‘Let’s take a moment to remember the old me… “Dead and Gone” comes out next Friday!’

The singer known for her song ‘OMG’ is releasing new music now that she’s left her record label, Warner Music Group, which she announced earlier this year.

In 2022, Leigh-Anne began her solo music career by signing with Warner Records. She then released her first EP, titled ‘No Hard Feelings,’ in 2023.

Her attempt at a solo career lost momentum when Warner refused to fund a music video for her latest single, reportedly because her previous songs hadn’t performed well.

Over a year after taking time off, Leigh-Anne announced she’s getting back to making music this year, and she’s doing it independently, without a record label.

Leigh-Anne recently shared on TikTok that she’s been dealing with some difficulties with her record label, calling it a ‘whole thing’ and describing it as a strange period.

The celebrity admitted they didn’t know what was happening either, and felt like everyone was wondering, ‘Where’s Leigh-Anne? What about the music?’

‘And I felt I couldn’t really explain what was actually happening.’

She explained: ‘Obviously I left my label and I’m now with Virgin. I’m fully independent guys eek!

Honestly, this has been a really positive experience for me, and I think it was something I really needed.

After all my years in this business, I’ve learned one thing: if I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it *my* way. Honestly, what’s the point of putting in the effort if I can’t bring my own vision to life? It’s about authenticity, and staying true to what I believe in.

‘It just doesn’t make sense, so that’s all positive now and I feel really excited and really good.’

A representative for Leigh-Anne has been contacted by Daily Mail for comment.
