LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy Episode 2 Recap: Beach Luke and the Darths

As a seasoned bounty hunter hailing from the rough-and-tumble corners of the galaxy far, far away, I must say that this new adventure has been quite the rollercoaster ride so far. The mix of familiar faces with fresh twists has kept me on my toes, and I can’t help but admire the creative minds behind this reimagined universe.

This recap contains full spoilers for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy episode 2.

In a world where roles have been reversed – villains are now heroes and heroes are now villains – our Force-wielding character, Sig Greebling, finds himself captured by his elder sibling Dev, a Sith Lord in this alternate universe. Accompanying Dev is Yesi, a friend from the original world who doesn’t recognize Sig, and serves with the Rebellion. Yet, there remains a glimmer of hope. Sig’s Gonk droid Servo has formed an alliance with Jedi Bob, a enigmatic figure, intent on rescuing our heroes.

Let’s recap everything you missed in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy episode 2.

In the world of Fennesa, Sig and Yesi find themselves imprisoned by Dev. Sig implores his sibling to recall their past as space farmers, to which Dev summons his pupil instead. So, it seems…

Darth Rey!

As Dev and I team up, we mercilessly harass Yesi. In a desperate bid to restore order, Sig grabs the Cornerstone – that legendary LEGO piece which alters time and dimensions. Dev dives towards the Cornerstone.

However, just as a solid brick wall appears between Sig and the peril, he is unable to proceed any further. Suddenly, Jedi Bob emerges from behind this barrier, whom Sig recalls as the individual who attempted to halt him at the Jedi Temple, where he discovered the Cornerstone.

As the Darths sliced through the wall, it was clearly time for me, the gamer, to bolt! It turns out Jedi Bob isn’t quite the lightsaber wielder I had hoped for, so running seemed like a wise choice. However, in a surprising twist, Bob can manipulate objects with the Force, transforming a formidable blaster from those evil Admiral Ackbar clone troopers into harmless mouse droids!

While dashing towards the dock where Yesi’s ship awaits, Bob shares an intriguing detail: He, Sig, and Servo were insulated from the cosmic event as they were imprisoned within Fennesa’s Jedi temple when it occurred. Now, Yesi is inclined to trust Sig’s assertion that another galaxy exists.

Before they get to her spaceship, Dev destroys it with his X-Fighter! She exclaims in shock, “That ship was mine honestly!” Jedi Bob then rebuilds the debris into a new vessel. Sig hesitates to abandon his brother. However, Jedi Bob plainly states that Dev is no longer his sibling. He’s merely someone who looks like Dev, and “There’s nothing noble left within him.” Before Sig can retort, additional Ackbar clone troopers show up, attacking them with gunfire.

They rush onto the ship, with Yesi grabbing hold of the steering wheel. She swiftly accelerates as Dev soars in close proximity! The fight in the sky was intense, with Dev shattering rock formations and Yesi modifying them into helpful enhancements such as a podracing engine to boost their speed. They successfully escaped the planet and dived into the security of hyperspace!

In simpler terms, Bob shares with Sig that he unintentionally formed a new galaxy, which altered everything – time, space, people, and places. Later, Sig informs Yesi that her father still exists in his original galaxy. This revelation motivates Yesi to rectify the situation, and she’s ready to help. She’s all in.

Under Bob’s tutelage, Sig undergoes a Jedi test, crafting a figurine of a nerf. Bob praises Sig, acknowledging his innate talent as a Force Shaper, an obscure faction within the Jedi Order focused on creation. In contrast, the Force Breakers, another branch of Force Shapers, align with the dark side. For ages, these factions have clashed, yet their struggle has weakened the cosmic balance. To mend the galaxy, the Force Shapers devised the Cornerstone and concealed it on Fennesa for its preservation. Saddened by his past shortcomings, Bob safeguards the temple. However, there remains a glimmer of hope. A new Force Shaper sanctuary could have emerged somewhere in the galaxy, where they may utilize the Cornerstone to restore harmony.

Sig is excited that things can go back to the way they were. Bob… isn’t so sure.

Additionally, it’s important to note that The Cornerstone is irreversibly linked to Sig. Since Bob has been assigned as its guardian, he finds himself in a predicament where he must take care of Sig along with it. While Bob may not be an exceptional educator, he promises to put forth his utmost effort to instruct Sig in the art of Force Building.

Returning with the villains, I find myself once again at odds with Signal Dev, my supposed brother, who’s fuming over our unsuccessful search for him. Determined to teach him a lesson he won’t forget, Dev orders his apprentice to summon every bounty hunter in this sector to track down Sig. As I attempt to reach out to the Rebellion, our signal is intercepted by an unknown party.

Initially, Bob suggests that Sig should modify Servo during their training phase. However, Sig hesitates because he cherishes Servo just as it is. Yet, Bob explains that a small improvement won’t hurt him. Nonetheless, using the Force, Sig makes minor adjustments to Servo and then…

Servo can talk! He thanks Sig for the upgrades, happy to be able to communicate with everyone now.

Sig feels disappointed as he wasn’t able to repair Servo according to his preferences. Bob expresses regret too, admitting that due to his accustomed solitude, he feels less than an effective Jedi in his eyes.

Out of the blue, they find themselves under siege! The deadliest, ruthless bounty hunters from across the galaxy have targeted them: Ewoks! It’s a nerve-wracking space combat within a field of asteroids where Yesi demonstrates her exceptional piloting abilities. The Ewoks are relentless, provoking questions about their worthiness as formidable adversaries in this universe. Yesi spots an opportunity to flee.

A Naboo starship emerges from hyperspace unexpectedly, hindering their progress. Yesi recognizes the vessel as it belongs to a sinister C-3PO, who demands their surrender. In a menacing tone, C-3PO delivers the odds of successful escape, which are not favorable. The hyperdrive shuts down, but luckily for them, Servo intervenes!

Once Servo boosts the vessel’s energy, there’s sufficient power for a single leap. However, without a navigation system, their destination remains unknown! Relying on intuition, they make the plunge into hyperdrive!

Alas! Just as they were about to leap, their engines were struck! The brave ones landed on a planet instead, yet they were hurtling towards the sea! Bob urges Sig to employ his powers for their aid. “Act without thought!” he shouts. “Just do it! Empty your mind. Have faith in yourself.” In response, Sig extends his Force and transforms their spaceship into a vessel, enabling them to touch down on the water and drift.

I’m deeply sorry for the unfortunate incident that led Imperial bounty hunters to our hidden Rebel base. The truth is, I inadvertently compromised our secret location due to my own oversight. In a rush to act, I failed to properly scrutinize my ship after it was tagged by the Empire. It seems Bob was right all along – rushing can often be as detrimental as moving too slowly.

They navigate their watercraft into the town, suddenly aware that Tatooine appears to have transformed with coastlines and shores. Upon reaching the Mos Eisley Marina, Sig ponders whether Luke Skywalker still resides on this newly-discovered Tatooine, as he used to in the original universe.

Without warning, a thrilling podrace unfolds over the sea! Max Rebo is out front, but Beach Luke, who isn’t exactly a saint in this series, is hot on his heels in second place. As the race progresses, we see that Luke resorts to using the Force to gain an unfair advantage – he even tears off part of Max Rebo’s podracer in order to secure victory!

When the protagonists encounter Luke at the dockside, Luke maintains that the competition was honest and aboveboard. However, Bob challenges his claim, and Luke prefers to discuss it discreetly, not wishing for bystanders to overhear. Therefore, he leads them to a quiet location where they can have an uninterrupted conversation.

They visit the Mos Eisley Cantina, brimming with delightful nods to classic scenes, but everything seems slightly altered compared to the cantina depicted in A New Hope. Upon seating themselves at a table, Bob once more challenges Luke on his use of the Force. In contrast, Sig shares with Luke the reasons for his significant status in the galaxy he hails from.

Luke shows no excitement whatsoever upon hearing Sig’s account of the original and sequel Star Wars trilogy. He declines their invitation, expressing his belief that perhaps people in this galaxy find joy in things as they are. Perhaps they don’t yearn for things to return to how they were. All he desires is to remain the Luke from Tatooine, living a simple life.

In simpler terms, Bob mentions that it seems simpler to act as a hero when one isn’t aware of the price involved. Curious about his actions, Sig questions him, but Bob immediately clarifies that he doesn’t consider himself a hero.

All of a sudden, Sig notices Yesi conversing with someone who appears to be Darth Maul across the cantina. Yet, this Maul is adorned like Lando Calrissian, which causes Sig unease due to Maul’s history as a Sith in his universe. Consequently, Sig hastily pulls Yesi, Servo, and Bob away from the cantina.

In this scenario, Darth Rey is found with a band of Ackbar troopers. Upon arrival, Sig swiftly accuses Maul of betraying everyone. Bob draws his lightsaber, joking about his lack of skill in swordplay. The confrontation between Rey and Bob ensues, with the former swiftly disarming the latter in a brief skirmish. However, Bob’s quick wit allows him to distract Rey, while Sig employs the Force to take her lightsaber away and construct a confinement device to trap her within it.

The victory is abruptly ended as the ominous Millennium Falcon makes its appearance! However, this isn’t the familiar ship we’re accustomed to. It’s the sinister Dark Falcon, filled with dark side users. Out steps Darth Rose Tico, Darth Nubs, Darth Kit Fisto, and more. But then, the most powerful Sith of them all emerges.

In this scene, it’s none other than Darth Jar Jar Binks (brilliantly voiced by Ahmed Best), who makes an appearance, ready to cause trouble as “Duel of the Fates” echoes through the air.

After everyone else has left, Dev informs Sig that his initial success has come to an end. He labels the original Dev as weak, and boasts that he is much stronger than the original Dev ever was. He then releases Darth Rey, explaining that with the Cornerstone, he can reshape the galaxy according to his desires.

In a swift move, Dev seizes the Pillar from Sig using telekinesis! Jedi Bob retaliates by snatching the same pillar mid-air, suspended between them. With their adversaries approaching, Sig exclaims, “This newly discovered galaxy is in chaos!

Which is where episode 2 of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy comes to a close.
