Lego Masters star Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught reveals what it’s REALLY like working with Hamish Blake
Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught has revealed what he really thinks of working with co-host Hamish Blake.
For the past seven years, the star of Lego Masters has appeared alongside Hamish on the popular game show on Channel Nine.
As the seventh season of Lego Masters, titled “Grandmasters of the Galaxy,” approaches its debut, Ryan shared insights into his collaboration with Hamish.
Before the start of Lego Masters Season 7 – Grandmasters of the Galaxy – Ryan spoke about working alongside Hamish.
Ryan openly shared with Nine that Hamish, contrary to any impression of being a diva, has consistently shown genuine character instead.
Ryan commented, “It doesn’t surprise me that he’s so humorous; he’s just as lively and amusing when the camera’s not rolling as he is in front of it. Therefore, there’s no hidden or unexpected side to him.

He’s remarkably authentic, as if he never changes his personality. This consistency makes it effortless for me to face work each day, and I must confess this truth.
The leading Lego enthusiast mentioned that when they initially encountered each other eight years back, there was an immediate connection between them, as they found themselves sharing remarkably alike pastimes and passions.
He’s a pro at creating structures with Legos in his career, while he’s known for being a comedian and media figure off the job. Yet, interestingly, we both bike daily, commuting to and from the studio, as he mentioned.
It turns out that we share a common interest in football and golf. Many activities bring us together, making our bond quite effortless to establish, and we both possess a remarkably similar wit.
The chemistry of the show, clearly, has been effectively transferred to the screen as Lego Masters has become a significant ratings success on Channel Nine.
In simple terms, during the final episode of 2024, approximately 1.9 million people tuned in, which was roughly the same number who watched consistently throughout the series. The first episode attracted around 2.2 million viewers.
Ryan’s wholehearted approval followed the disclosure that Hamish ranks among the top earning television personalities in the nation.
This week, the Australian TV Rich List report was published, ranking the comedian as the third highest-earning celebrity among the top 35 with an impressive income of $2 million.

Behind his nine coworkers, Scott Cam earns $2.4 million, while Karl Stefanovic leads the pack with a staggering salary of $2.8 million.
As a devoted admirer, I must note that The Brickman, a figure of great interest, seems absent from the list, garnering the least stellar rating, 60 Minutes’ Amelia Adams outshining with an impressive earnings of $300,000.
Hamish recently revealed the celebrity interview that changed his life.
42-year-old radio personality made an appearance on the ABC show “The Assembly” in 2024, and shared that conversing with wealthy entrepreneur, Richard Branson (age 74), was a profoundly impactful event in their life.
He remembered the occasion when Richard’s reaction to a producer asking for $1,000 during an interview with Hamish & Andy in 2010 left him speechless.
He brought back memories of the time when he was taken aback by Richard’s reaction to a request for $1,000 from a producer during an interview on Hamish & Andy in 2010.
I, being a devoted follower, shared that Hamish clarified his conversation was with Richard during the comedy program he co-hosted with Andy Lee. It was Jack Post, our producer, who requested funds from the billionaire.
In essence, Jack asked Hamish, “Given that you’re a billionaire, would you mind accompanying me to the ATM and lending me a thousand dollars? It wouldn’t make much of a difference for you, but it could significantly improve my current situation.” This is how Hamish put it.
Richard said, “Here’s a thought – I’d be willing to give you everything I have if you could tell me your age,” and Jack replied, “Seriously?” To which Richard responded, “Yes, that’s right.

Back then, I found myself utterly captivated by the tale unfolding before my eyes.
Hamish clarified, “We asked him to explain himself, and he responded with something like, ‘I’d rather be bankrupt and 22 years old than a billionaire and 68,’ or whatever age he actually was.
He stated: “Indeed, I believe this to be applicable to everyone. As we grow older, we tend to realize that wealth is a useful instrument for alleviating difficult circumstances, yet it does not equate to genuine happiness.
Reflecting on it constantly, I can’t help but marvel at how extraordinary it is just to exist, with many of life’s greatest treasures being completely free for the taking.
What resonated with me was the concept that we have access to something valuable right now, and in the future, we might find ourselves willing to trade all our worldly goods for it.
