Since its release, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has been getting rave reviews, with many players calling it one of the best LEGO games ever. It’s still early to say if it will remain a classic, but gamers are already impressed by how much better the game looks.
Everyone’s been raving about how beautiful and detailed Gotham City is in the game – seriously, it looks amazing. But something kinda unexpected keeps popping up in discussions, and it happened so often that even the official LEGO Twitter account felt the need to comment on it!
The level of detail in LEGO Batman models is incredibly high – you can even see small flaws like mold lines and fingerprints on the characters and scenery. This has led fans to surprisingly compare it to Red Dead Redemption 2. While RDR2 was once the gold standard for graphics, even LEGO acknowledged it’s starting to show its age.
Although LEGO didn’t specifically react to one particular instance, this situation isn’t unique. Many videos have surfaced online comparing similar visual effects in both games.
It might sound odd, but visual effects like rain and snow actually appear better in LEGO Batman than in the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2. This has led some fans, such as poliwa_93 on X, to suggest that Red Dead Redemption 2 is starting to show its age and has been overtaken by the LEGO game.
One of the best things to come out of the trend, however, is players mocking the excessive comparisons, showing off close-ups of fireplaces or NPC interactions to Red Dead Redemption 2‘s far more detailed effects.
It’s a little surprising, but fascinating to see how a game like LEGO Batman can actually have more visual detail in certain areas than a game like Red Dead Redemption. This is especially true thanks to PC mods, which help keep older games like Red Dead Redemption looking great even today.
Read Dead Redemption isn’t the only game LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has been compared with, either, as the latest outing for the caped crusader has received wide critical acclaim for its unique combination of classic LEGO mechanics and the Arkham games, retaining both the atmosphere and even a surprising amount of visual detail that we can’t wait to see more of.
