Legendary EastEnders villain looks unrecognisable as he takes on chilling new role
In the latest crime thriller, Fire Rises, Aaron Sidwell was nearly unidentifiable due to his dramatic transformation into the fervent character of Priest.
For a number of years, the actor who played EastEnders previously, now 36 years old, caused turmoil on Albert Square by portraying Steven Beale, the troubled son of Ian Beale (played by Adam Woodyatt), from 2007 until his character was written off in 2017.
Initially, three different actors portrayed the character of Steven, but later, the role was handled by another actor who, according to numerous fans, excels in depicting the cold-hearted villain, standing out among his predecessors.
However, viewers perusing Amazon Prime Video have been taken aback to find Aaron starring in Fyre Rises, a fresh crime drama where he portrays a zealous character named Priest, instigating others towards violent acts of an extreme nature.
viewers found Aaron’s dramatic change for the part quite surprising, as he was often seen covered in heavy makeup, with his hair combed over to one side and sporting a leopard print outfit.
Fans have been excited about his performance as a ruthless character, with many expressing their admiration for his acting abilities on social media.
One fan wrote via Instagram: ‘He is incredible’ as another agreed saying: ‘Such a good baddie.’
One fan also remarked: ‘Couldn’t imagine anyone else doing this role he is fantastic.’
Presently, soap opera enthusiasts have the chance to catch Aaron live on stage in London’s West End, as he stars in a modern reprise of the timeless musical Oliver!
The musical, on display at the Gielgud Theatre up until September, was beautifully reintroduced to the stage by director and choreographer Matthew Bourne, aged 64. (Or: The musical, which is being performed at the Gielgud Theatre until September, has been affectionately revived for the stage by director and choreographer Matthew Bourne, who is 64 years old.)
Earlier, when talking to BroadwayWorld, Aaron shared that theatre has always held a special place in his heart as it’s where he honed his acting skills.
As a theater enthusiast who’s journey led me from the stages to the screens, I shared with the media, “Initially, stepping into television felt more like a fish out of its comfort zone compared to my first steps in theater.
After I departed from the television series I was part of, I began receiving numerous theater auditions. From that point forward, things really started moving along.
He additionally shared that he found it intimidating to assume the part of Bill Sikes in the musical, given that the legendary Oliver Reed portrayed the character so memorably in the 1968 movie.
In a nutshell, Bill Sikes has been portrayed by numerous actors globally. However, when people mention Bill Sikes, it’s usually Oliver Reed who comes to mind.
He also mentioned that he didn’t expect the challenge of portraying this role because certain individuals have a distinct vision not only for what villains generally are, but also for the specific history this particular villain has.
But the beauty for him is that he is ‘able to bring something to it in the way that I see it’.
Fyre Rises is now available to stream on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Sky Store.
