
The live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie has found its stars.
In a recent announcement on platform X, renowned video game creator Shigeru Miyamoto, who serves as an executive producer for the project, revealed that Bo Bragason will take on the role of Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link in the upcoming Nintendo and Sony movie. Together with Takashi Tezuka, Miyamoto co-created the popular video game series.

The versatile British actress, Bo Bragason, has made a name for herself with her captivating performances in shows like “Three Girls” on BBC One, “The Jetty,” streaming on Disney+’s platform, and the upcoming vampire comedy “The Radleys” in 2024.
In 2022, I lent my voice to Pinocchio in Disney+’s live-action remake of the classic tale, and played Miles in Netflix’s chilling “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” You can also catch me on the Canadian series “Son of a Critch” and the comedy “Everything’s Going to Be Great.” As a movie buff, I’m proud to be part of such diverse projects!

We have a chat with the mastermind behind ‘Super Mario Bros.’, Shigeru Miyamoto, just before the premiere of the latest animated movie based on his creation.
The relatively youthful ages of the actors – 21 and 16 years old – have ignited discussions among fans, suggesting that the movie could be inspired by “The Wind Waker” or “Ocarina of Time” video games, where characters like Zelda and Link are portrayed as teenagers.
Originally planned for a March 2027 premiere, the movie has been moved up to May 7, 2027, due to some setbacks during production.
The director overseeing this project is Wes Ball, recognized for the “Maze Runner” series and “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.” Being a fan himself, Ball shared with Entertainment Weekly at the end of 2023 that his aim was to produce something resembling “a live-action Miyazaki” rather than “The Lord of the Rings.
He shared with EW his enthusiasm for the enchanting and playful touch the famed Japanese animator has, expressing a desire to witness similar magic in future works.
Avi Arad is also producing the film.
