LeAnn Rimes using her time on The Voice Australia as ‘a dress rehearsal’ for UK version of the show
As a die-hard fan of LeAnn Rimes, I’ve been captivated by her journey ever since she graced our screens in the late ’90s. Her talent was evident even then, and it’s been a privilege to witness her evolution over the years. But let me tell you, this latest move of hers has me absolutely floored!
A source disclosed that LeAnn Rimes made an appearance on The Voice Australia, serving as a practice session or dry run, before she officially joins the UK edition of the show.
On Monday, a source shared with Daily Mail Australia that the American entertainer, aged 42, expressed interest in understanding the rules and guidelines of the popular Australian reality show as it is considered family-friendly.
In contrast to its counterparts, the British version of the singing contest is often characterized as more intense and dramatic, with an increased emphasis on confrontation.
This year, LeAnn joined The Voice stage for the first time, sharing it with Guy Sebastian and two other esteemed coaches – fellow American artist Adam Lambert and Australian singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke.
According to the source, the notion of becoming a coach in any country made LeAnn very nervous, and she agreed to both shows with significant apprehension.
As I stepped onto the stage of The Voice Australia, I viewed it not just as a chance to compete, but as a precious rehearsal for my upcoming performance on The Voice UK. In essence, I was utilizing this experience to polish my skills and prepare myself for the bigger stage ahead.
According to the source, the Australian version seemed like an ideal environment for building some self-assurance prior to encountering the tougher competition found in the UK.
In the latest run of the British show, LeAnn, Tom Fletcher from McFly, and Danny Jones began their coaching roles alongside established mentors Tom Jones and will.i.am during the weekend’s premiere.
The source noted that filming The Voice in Australia presented a unique challenge, comparing it to an entirely different entity. They likened it more to a lively nightclub scene rather than the familiar family-friendly atmosphere we’re accustomed to.
According to the source, there’s an art to excelling as a coach, but there’s also an art to damaging one’s career. Her colleagues in the industry advised LeAnn to tread carefully.
LeAnn was honing her methods for delivering effective pitches, which was a key aspect. This gave her the opportunity to observe what strategies worked and didn’t work.
Fans in the UK will likely see a ‘different’ LeAnn to the one viewers Down Under know, they said.
Additionally, the source asserted that it was Guy Sebastian who provided LeAnn with inspiration and shared his expertise freely.
‘There were some do’s and what not to do’s,’ they continued.
One thing Leann learned, claims the source, was not to take things too ‘personally’.
They mentioned, “Australia offers a wonderful playground, and she’s more than welcome to come back again next year.”
Daily Mail Australia has reached out to LeAnn’s management for comment.
Originating from Jackson, Mississippi, LeAnn made her breakthrough in the late ’90s when she was just 14 years old, becoming the youngest individual to ever receive a Grammy Award.
She found a new audience for her work on the soundtrack for the 2000 hit movie Coyote Ugly.
In 2001, LeAnn’s song “Can’t Fight The Moonlight” from her album gained massive popularity, selling more than two million copies globally and peaking at number one on Australian charts. This track also became the country’s highest-selling single of that year.
