League of Legends reveals new map aesthetic for Season 2
The Spirit Blossom Festival is almost here, and League of Legends has plans to reveal an amazingly redesigned map for the upcoming season!
The appearance of the League of Legends map, such as Summoner’s Rift, will change with the arrival of each new season, like the Spirit Blossom season. This means you’ll be stepping into the beautiful and eagerly anticipated festival atmosphere in Ionia.
Bases
Upon entering the game, your starting point is immediately striking. Instead of the usual Noxus-inspired towers and nexus, you’ll find new structures adorned with female motifs. These bases appear brighter and more in tune with nature, featuring elements like flowers, water streams, and a divine touch.
Towers
The latest structures bear a striking resemblance to Sona and Ashe. In a developer’s video, we learn that unlike Ashe who hails from Ionia, she embodies the nomadic queen guiding souls toward the spirit world. In terms of lore, while Sona now resides in Demacia, her birthplace was actually Ionia, where she mastered the true power of her distinctive musical instrument.
Spirit Blossom theme
The revamped League of Legends map will take on a brighter, floral appearance, with a predominant use of green and pink hues, reflecting a springtime theme as announced by Riot Games at the start of the year. This change is part of Season Two, themed Spirit Blossom, implying that not just the map, but also skins and other game components will deviate from previous seasons’ styles.
Starting April 30th, I’ll be shutting the door on the Noxus Season and stepping into a fresh season set in Ionia, during the Spirit Blossom festival. There’s plenty to look forward to with new game modes, skins, gameplay tweaks, and lots more arriving at the end of this month. Can’t wait to dive into all the exciting updates headed to League of Legends!
