League of Legends now refund LP when a cheater ruins your game

Finally, say goodbye to losing LP to cheaters. Thank you, Vanguard.

Riot Games is pushing changes where players can get LP refunds if they lose to a cheater. The report system is also getting changes with a new ban notification. Check out all the details here.

These updates all go live with League of Legends patch 25.06.

LP refunds in LoL

Riot’s in-house anti-cheat Vanguard will now refund LP to players if they’ve encountered a cheater.

If it’s discovered that your opponent was cheating during a game and subsequently banned, the loss points from that match will be returned to you.

The alert will display the date of the game in question, the Riot ID of the banned cheater, the amount of League Points (LP) that have been returned to you, and your new rank after the refund.

It seems this refund will still pull through even if it will promote you to a higher division, as the screenshot that Riot provided would have had the affected player at Diamond II 98 LP before the refund.

It’s unclear how this would work in the Apex ranks where the ladder refreshes regularly.

Players who triumph with someone using unfair means won’t face any League Points (LP) penalties, but be warned: if it’s discovered that you deliberately queue up with cheaters, you’ll also receive a ban along with them.

New Ban Notification

League of Legends will now also notify you if a player that you reported got banned. “It’s important that you know when your hackusations are right on the money,” wrote the LoL devs.

This one is simple; it lets you know which player has been permabanned and thanks you for your service.
