League of Legends kicks off 2026 Season 1 with a Demacia theme

In 2026, the world of Demacia is coming to League of Legends‘ Summoner’s Rift. Players can look forward to new character skins and a captivating cinematic experience.

The highly anticipated region of Demacia from League of Legends (LoL) will be the central theme for Season 1 in 2026. This update will bring fresh content to the game, including new features on Summoner’s Rift and exciting new character skins.

League of Legends Season 1: Demacia map

Summoner’s Rift is getting a visual update! After the holidays, the winter-themed map will be replaced with a new look inspired by Demacia. You’ll notice a magical material called Petricite throughout the Rift – it’s easily spotted by its white and gold coloring. The overall layout of the map, including the towers and Nexus, will remain largely the same.

Demacian skins

Seasonal skins are returning in 2026, and the theme will be Demacia. This means several champions will receive new skins with a Petricite style. The developers recently showed that Taliyah, Nautilus, Cho’Gath, and Morgana are all getting these new Demacia skins.

Recent leaks indicate Morgana will be receiving a special Prestige skin, and the video showcasing it contains a lot of detail. Interestingly, she’s the only champion featured who’s originally from Demacia. Riot has stated they’re aiming to redesign champions with a Demacian style and introduce more diversity to the game. And for those wondering, it looks like they aren’t planning to release a new Lux skin right now.

Cinematic

We’re also expanding the story of League of Legends. A new cinematic coming in January will take us back to the historical “Golden Age of Demacia,” as the Riot team explained. This means we’ll be exploring Demacia’s past.

Demacia was once a strong and respected kingdom, known for its brave soldiers and commitment to values like fairness, honor, and responsibility. But the unexpected death of King Jarvan III threw the nation into turmoil. Because the noble families hadn’t fully pledged their support to the new, young Prince Jarvan (who would later become Jarvan IV), many feared Demacia’s time of prosperity was over.
