League of Legends WASD controls will soon arrive in the PBE and last multiple patches.
Riot Games has confirmed that the popular game, League of Legends, will soon feature WASD controls as an option, providing players with an alternative to the existing point-and-click system.

WASD controls in League of Legends
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled about the news that Riot Games is introducing WASD controls for League of Legends! This change, according to the developers, aims to create a more enticing environment for newcomers, making it easier for them to dive into the world of Summoner’s Rift.
The announcement noted that for novice gamers, the WASD control layout is generally the most comfortable for PC games at present, and it’s no secret that many players subconsciously position their fingers in those spots when returning to League of Legends following a break playing other games.
As for the classic point-and-click system, it will not go anywhere.
League of Legends WASD controls release date
For the upcoming months, Riot Games plans to gradually introduce a new control setup. The testing phase will start shortly within the Public Beta Environment (PBE), lasting through numerous updates or patches.
Following the completion of the Practice Tool run, the default WASD controls for League of Legends will be applicable in the game’s unranked matchups. Subsequently, a worldwide release will ensue, encompassing both professional and ranked matches.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excited to share that Riot Games has promised an interactive process during the development of their upcoming game features. At every stage, they’ll invite our feedback, fine-tune elements based on our suggestions, and address any issues or glitches that might arise. What’s more, they’ve assured us that both control schemes will be balanced before WASD enters ranked mode, ensuring fairness for all players!
Riot Games plans to examine the impact of using WASD keys for movement and attacks on game balance. At present, they notice it’s simpler to dodge or maneuver with WASD controls as compared to the click-to-move system, known as “kiting”. Consequently, the development team will pay attention to user feedback in this aspect and make modifications to ensure both control methods remain balanced.
