Role quests in League of Legends 2026
League of Legends already features quests tied to player roles. For example, Junglers have a goal to complete their jungle item, and Supports need to finish a quest to unlock their support item and wards.
By 2026, every role in League of Legends will have dedicated quests to complete. This change is designed to make each player’s impact on the game more equal, preventing certain roles from becoming overwhelmingly powerful or important compared to others.
How do role quests work in LoL 2026?
You can make progress in these role quests simply by playing the game as usual! Just keep killing minions, champions, destroying towers and plates, and taking neutral objectives. Focusing on these things in your lane will help you complete the quests even faster.
Minions, plates, and towers are all changing in 2026, too. Read about them here.
The developers estimate completion time will differ for each task, but it should take roughly as long as it currently takes to fully upgrade your support items.
We created role quests to make each player feel more satisfied and give them a special way to impact the game. We also saw this as an opportunity to strengthen the top and bottom lane roles, which are currently underperforming. Because of this, the quests for those roles will be a bit more rewarding than others.
Top lane role quest – Third Summoner Spell: Teleport
Top lane players start with Teleport as a third Summoner Spell, in addition to their usual two. This extra Teleport has a longer wait time before it can be used again. However, if a top laner already chooses Teleport as one of their starting spells, it gets improved. When used, the buffed Teleport grants a significant shield that gets stronger based on the player’s maximum health.
Players will receive extra experience immediately and throughout the quest, in addition to completing it. The maximum level they can reach will be raised to 20.
Mid lane role quest – Tier 3 boots, empowered Recall
Now that Feats of Strength are gone, tier 3 boots can only be earned by finishing the mid lane questline. As a result, each team will only have one player who can obtain them.
Once mid lane players finish their quest, they’ll get a free upgrade to Tier 3 boots and a faster recall – it’ll only take 4 seconds for the rest of the match. The developers have mentioned the Tier 3 boots will have some small adjustments to how they currently work.
Bot lane role quest – Seventh item slot
Bot laners will get to carry out their carry fantasy better with their role quest.
Once they finish the quest, they’ll get a large amount of gold right away, and then earn even more gold throughout the rest of the game from defeating minions, champions, and assisting teammates. You might be wondering, what will they spend all that gold on?
Players will receive an additional inventory slot for boots as a quest reward. This frees up space, allowing them to potentially collect another powerful Legendary item later in the game. However, because this new slot is specifically for boots, players won’t be able to carry a total of seven Legendary items.
League of Legends 2026 will feature not just role-based quests, but also brand new items. You can find all the details about these new items here and decide if they’re worth making room for in your inventory.
Jungle role quest changes in League of Legends 2026
The Jungle role currently has a quest that improves their Smite ability and allows them to use it directly against opposing players. Because Jungle is currently the most powerful and influential role in the game, the developers were very cautious when making changes to this quest.
In League of Legends 2026, junglers will clear camps a bit slower at the start of the game. To compensate, they’ll earn more gold and experience from taking down larger monsters, and they’ll get a speed boost while moving through the jungle after finishing their quest. The Smite ability will also be stronger. These changes, along with tougher monsters, should make it easier for junglers to take objectives like Dragons and Rift Herald.
Support role quest changes in League of Legends 2026
Similar to players, developers believe the support role’s quest – which rewards an upgraded item and wards – is already quite strong. However, they are still planning changes for it in 2026.
Okay, so this is awesome news for us support players! We’re finally getting a dedicated slot in our inventory just for Control Wards. That means we won’t have to choose between buying a useful item and keeping vision control up in the late game anymore. Plus, Control Wards themselves are going to be cheaper for us, which is a huge win!
