LCP teams, CFO and GAM, bring the underdog power to MSI 2025
At the First Stand, one qualifying team stunned the League of Legends (LoL) community by delivering outstanding play. In contrast, the other team boasts a rich tradition of defeating formidable adversaries.
The League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) is a newly established region within the global competitive circuit. Starting in 2025 and beyond, League of Legends (LoL) squads from Vietnam, Japan, and the Pacific Championships will face off against each other in the consolidated LCP competition.
At the Mid-Season Invitational 2025 (MSI 2025), the participating region is made up of two teams. Since CTBC Flying Oyster emerged victorious in the LCP 2025 Mid Season, they are set to begin with the Bracket Stage. As GAM Esports ended their regional season in second place, they will need to compete through the MSI Play-In Stage.
It’s intriguing to delve deeper into the profiles of these LCP teams participating in MSI 2025. They hold significant weight in the international League of Legends esports tournament.
CTBC Flying Oyster at MSI 2025: Sensation of the First Stand
Ever since the establishment of CTBC Flying Oyster within the Pacific Championship Series (PCS) back in 2022, this League of Legends squad has consistently dominated the local tournament scene.
In the spring of 2024, CTBC Flying Oyster, also known as CFO, clinched its inaugural victory in the Simmer split and managed to secure this high position. Previous splits saw CFO consistently ranking among the top 3-4 teams.
The shift into the LCP era proved advantageous for the Flying Oyster. They clinched victory in the LCP 2025 Season Kickoff, securing their place in the First Stand 2025 (FST 2025). Currently, they maintain the leading position during the LCP 2025 Mid Season Split 2 tournament.
In international competitions, the CFO team’s performance was relatively modest. At the League of Legends World Championships in 2022 and 2023, they placed between 11th and 14th, and 19th to 20th. Regrettably, they missed out on participating at both the MSI and Worlds in 2024.
2025’s FST tournament marked a significant achievement for CTBC Flying Oyster, not just because they represented LCP as champions, but also due to their impressive wins—even against Top Esports, a team that represents the League of Legends Pro League (LPL).
At the FST 2025 tournament, CTBC Flying Oyster placed between third and fourth positions. This performance left the international audience in awe, and everyone is eagerly anticipating their participation in MSI 2025.

GAM Esports at MSI 2025: A tradition of upsetting big opponents
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but proudly proclaim that my favorite team reigned supreme over the League of Legends Vietnamese Championship Series, all the way up until the establishment of the LCP in 2025. GAM Esports was unstoppable, claiming victory after victory, with no second-place finishes since 2022.
When Riot Games merged all Asia-Pacific teams into a single region, some doubts arose regarding GAM’s future, particularly in terms of international qualifications. However, during the LCP 2025 Mid Season, GAM Esports demonstrated their prowess by overcoming opponents from other sub-regions, alleviating these concerns.
At the MSI 2025 tournament, GAM overcame opponents like Vikings Esports and TALON. These teams are recognized for their global influence too.
In regions outside their home base, GAM Esports is known for putting up unexpectedly tough fights as underdogs. Many prominent League of Legends esports teams have found themselves outmatched by the skillful Vietnamese players from GAM. This trend was evident at Worlds 2022 when GAM beat Top Esports, and again at Worlds 2024 where they eliminated MAD Lions KOI.
In the LCP Season Kickoff 2025, TALON knocked out GAM Esports, preventing them from qualifying for FST 2025. However, it’s fantastic that GAM Esports will be participating in MSI once more following a different outcome in Regional Split 2.

In the year 2024, our team added two new members at the start and finish of that year. Key Game-altering Moment (GAM) players on our squad are Kiaya and Levi, who have been with us since 2018 and 2019 respectively.

As a gamer, I’ve got to say that neither GAM nor CFO seem to be the favorites for MSI 2025, but don’t let their current standing fool you. They might just pack an unexpected punch that leaves everyone in awe. T1 shouldn’t take these underdogs lightly; they could be formidable opponents indeed.
