Group Stage (single round-robin)

In the upcoming League of Legends Championship (LCK) 2024 Summer season, the ten participating teams will be split into two separate groups. The top-ranking teams for the 2024 LCK Summer season, Hanwha Life Esports and Gen.G Esports, will each join a different group. The specific details of which team lands in which group will be announced shortly.

In a single-elimination round-robin style, each team will play best-of-three (Bo3) matches against opponents from the opposite group. The group that first achieves 13 victories will progress as the Winning Group, while the other group will be labeled as the Losing Group. During this phase, one team will be knocked out according to the following scenario:

• Top 3 teams from the Winner Group will advance to the Playoffs.
• The bottom 2 teams from the Winner Group and the top 4 teams from the Loser Group will progress to the Play-In Stage.
• The team at the bottom of the Loser Group will be eliminated.

Play-In (double elimination)

This phase includes the bottom two squads from the Winner Group and the top four from the Loser Group. It uses a double-elimination system, which means teams can lose one game but still have a chance to advance. In the Upper Bracket, Rounds 1 and 2 will be best-of-three (Bo3), while the Lower Bracket Finals will be best-of-five (Bo5). Eventually, just three teams will progress to the Playoffs from this round.

Playoffs (double elimination)

Six squads will unite during the Playoffs, consisting of the top three teams from the Winner Group in the Preliminary Round and the best three teams that advanced from the Qualifier Round. The matches will follow a double-elimination system, with each encounter being a Best-of-Five series.

In a manner similar to the LCK Season Split bracket, the top two teams in the Winner Group advance straight to Round 2. The leading team is given the choice to pick their opponent from the winners of Round 1. Only one team will prevail as the LCK champion for the initial League of Legends Esports global tournament of 2025, known as First Stand.

Fearless Draft

Furthermore, the LCK Cup 2025 will mark a new era as it introduces a Fearless Draft format for the first time in an LCK tournament. This means that champions used in the preceding game are prohibited in the subsequent game. Consequently, by the fifth match of a Best-of-Five series, a total of 50 champions will be off-limits.
