Lauren Silverman shares family snaps with Simon Cowell and son Eric, 12, as they spend ‘quality time’ in Malibu

Lauren Silverman recently posted photos from a family vacation in Malibu, enjoying time with her fiancé, Simon Cowell, and their son, Eric.

The 48-year-old mother of two shared photos of her family’s beach vacation with her followers. Her 12-year-old son, Eric, motivated her to try surfing, which they all enjoyed.

Lauren looked stylish in neutral colors, wearing a zip-up jacket and leggings with a hat and sunglasses. She hugged Eric and Simon.

Eric looked like he’d just come from the ocean in his wetsuit, and Simon stuck to his usual style – a black T-shirt, padded jacket, and aviator sunglasses.

Lauren posted a photo of herself surfing with two friends, all wearing wetsuits on the beach.

Looking back on the trip, Lauren said it was ‘Malibu round two,’ and while it’s sad it’s over, they all had a wonderful time together.

Lots of sunshine, being outside, and celebrating Easter filled our time with fun and connection—and Eric even talked me into trying surfing!

I’m really happy with how things turned out! I’m so thankful for my family and friends, and Malibu is always amazing. I feel incredibly grateful.

Lauren shared that she was heading to Miami to visit her son Adam at university, as well as her parents and sister. She expressed her excitement about seeing them all.

Lauren also shared a gorgeous selfie wearing Ray-Ban sunglasses and a fedora. The photo showed off her fit physique in a white tank top.

She was also photographed outdoors, in a field with a horse. She wore an Alo jacket, wide-leg pants, and sneakers.

Lauren recently explained her decision to relax her phone rules for her son, Eric, and shared that her husband, Simon, hasn’t had a cell phone for eight years. This announcement came shortly before a holiday.

I couldn’t believe it when I heard! Eric’s parents were totally against him having a phone at all, but they had to change their minds after they found out he’d secretly downloaded Snapchat onto Lauren’s! It was a total surprise, and they clearly hadn’t expected him to find a way.

I was so interested to see Lauren share this on Instagram! She explained that she and Simon were really set on one thing: keeping Eric off phones. It’s amazing because Simon himself hasn’t even used a phone in almost eight years!

Recently, Eric had a frank discussion with us that caused us to reconsider our stance a little.

Okay, so he finally got a phone, which is amazing! But get this – he’s completely avoiding social media! Can you believe it? It’s just for actually talking to people – texting and calling his friends and family. It’s… it’s so pure, honestly. He’s setting boundaries, and I just… I admire it so much!

Using a photo presentation, Lauren elaborated, saying, ‘I’ve decided to let my 12-year-old son have a phone…’

However, I still decided against letting my child use social media. It’s unavoidable – texting is now just a normal part of growing up.

That’s where plans get made, and people share laughs. Friendships blossom, but eventually, someone inevitably feels left out of the group.

‘For a long time I was very clear, no phone.’

Lauren thought it would be best to wait as long as possible before giving Eric a smartphone, and she and Simon agreed.

Everything shifted when she found out her son had been secretly texting his friends on Snapchat using her phone.

She said: ‘That moment really made me stop and think about what the right approach should be. 

We didn’t argue; we had a conversation. It turned out his concerns were quite straightforward. He wasn’t interested in social media – he simply wanted to be able to text and call his friends.

Okay, so Lauren and Eric finally worked something out! He gets a phone, which is amazing, but she’s being SO smart about it. He can text and call, which is essential, but no Snapchat or other social media? Genius! It’s like she understands the dangers and is protecting him, and honestly, I’m a little obsessed with how she’s handling this whole thing. It’s perfect!

She explained that she was setting a boundary because social media feels like a completely separate reality.

We’re currently dealing with a lot of stress, constant comparisons to others, and a generally negative environment. We’re hoping things will improve, and we’re waiting to see what happens.

Lauren explained her firm household rules: no phones are allowed in Eric’s bedroom, during meals, or while the family is spending time together.

She concluded: ‘Technology should never replace real life.’

They wrote: ‘Smart mum. You are such a role model’ and ‘bravo’. 

Simon gave up having a phone back in 2018. 

The media executive explained that his phone had become such a source of distraction and frustration that he intentionally made himself unreachable to protect his well-being and find more peace of mind.

He told The Mail on Sunday at the time: ‘I literally have not been on my phone.

‘The difference it made was that I became more aware of the people around me and way more focused.

It really bothers me when people are on their phones during meetings – I’ve definitely been guilty of it myself. It makes it impossible to focus.

Honestly, getting into this has been a lifesaver for my mental health. It’s… weird, I won’t lie, but in the best way possible! It genuinely makes me so much happier, I can’t even explain it. I feel so much better because of it.
