Without hesitation, Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez passionately explained why they decided to join the inaugural all-woman crew for a ride aboard Blue Origin’s spacecraft, which launched and landed safely on Monday.

Following their 11-minute space journey, the pair fielded queries concerning the criticism of their mission, particularly addressing Olivia Munn’s comment that it was ‘extravagant’.

The journalist defended their space trip by saying, “We are hearing feedback from young women and girls about what this means for them.

Simultaneously, Sánchez (who plans to wed Jeff Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin, this summer) disclosed that the judgment excites her greatly.

She expressed her desire for their critics to visit Blue Origin, where they could witness the dedicated staff who not only work there, but also pour their passion and energy into this project. In early April, Munn critically commented on the Blue Origin space mission prior to its scheduled launch on the 14th, during an appearance on Today With Jenna And Friends.

She asked, “What’s their action? To clarify, can you explain the reason behind it?” She added, “Although I realize it might not be fashionable to mention this, there are numerous other critical matters that need attention in the world at present.

Munn then added, ‘What are you going to do up in space? What are you doing up there?’ 

The mother of two made a comparison between the launch and a thrilling ride at Disneyland, then wondered aloud as to why those on the journey felt compelled to share their experience with others, rather than simply enjoying it, returning, and keeping it to themselves.

She pointed out, “It might seem excessive to some – but the cost to travel in space is astronomical, considering many individuals struggle to buy even basic necessities like eggs.

Host Jenna Bush Hager shared with Olivia that the women’s space crew would be going into space in a stylish manner, causing the actress to display a puzzled expression.

‘They are getting their hair done, their makeup done, even eyelash extensions,’ Hager continued. 

Munn was left speechless once again and then questioned, ‘They said this out loud?’ 

The actress gave a silent negative nod, and Hager playfully commented, ‘Indeed, and plenty of eyelash adhesive to secure that perfectly. It’s the thought that keeps crossing my mind.’

The recent Blue Origin Flight NS-31 was a unique event, as it was the first to be staffed entirely by women since Valentina Tereshkova’s groundbreaking solo space mission back in 1963 for Russia.

Earlier this year, people were taken aback when they learned that a group of six women would be venturing into space. At first, Sanchez expressed disbelief, saying she couldn’t comprehend that it was actually taking place.
