Laura Dundovic Shares Surprising Health Scare: 15 Polyps Found in Routine Check!
Laura Dundovic has revealed her bowel cancer scare after a routine colonoscopy.
As a wellness advocate, I recently discovered some unexpected news in my health journey. On a routine check-up on Monday, medical professionals uncovered 15 polyps within me, which points towards Serrated Polyposis Syndrome (SPS) being a part of my health profile. It’s crucial to remember that open dialogue about health issues is key to understanding and maintaining wellness.
Always hopeful, Laura shared with The Sunday Telegraph her gratitude for the discovery of the polyps.
She shared with the outlet that she’s choosing to concentrate on the positivity of the discovery. Even though she’s going through a tough period, at least she can keep an eye on and observe this situation.
Previously crowned Miss Universe Australia is currently awaiting the outcome of a biopsy, but wants her followers to know she’s taking necessary precautions and staying cautious. Despite this, she expresses a sense of optimism, suggesting that she believes it’s unlikely to be cancer.
The doctor mentioned that it seems unlikely to be cancer, but since there’s a history of bowel cancer in your family, it’s crucial that we run some additional tests to confirm the diagnosis.
Approximately 1 out of every 100,000 individuals have SPS, a condition that not only affects model Olivia Molly Rogers but also radio personality Carrie Bickmore.
As a wellness advocate, I felt compelled to share my recent health ordeal involving polyps – hoping it inspires you all to prioritize regular medical check-ups. Staying vigilant about our health is crucial!
She expressed her hope that this information encourages people to get regular health screenings for conditions like breast cancer, skin cancer, colon cancer, and other important checks, before it’s too late.
In my latest personal sharing, I’ve opened up about another health challenge I face – a rare genetic disorder. I believe in educating others about my journey, so here are some insights into the condition and the strategies I employ to manage it effectively.
The model has a genetic condition known as hemochromatosis, which causes the body to absorb excessive amounts of iron from their food intake.
On Instagram, Laura shared with her followers a peek into her procedure for dealing with her health issue aimed at reducing her high iron levels – a method known as phlebotomy.
She noted, “I consumed two liters today. This is the fourth and likely last month of venesection for me. Once this is over, I should be able to donate regularly, approximately every three months.
‘Will get my results next week so will update you all then.’

She mentioned, ‘If you’re new, I have a condition known as haemochromatosis, which causes my body to accumulate excessive amounts of iron. As a result, I need to perform certain procedures to maintain my iron levels within the normal range.’
Previously, Dundovic expressed gratitude for finally focusing on her wellbeing following several challenging years managing a health condition, a fact that became notable during her appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Ever since I’ve been delving deeper into comprehending my own physique, I must say these past couple of months have felt nothing short of fantastic!
It took two years filled with uncertainty, followed by a year of dedicated effort, to finally pinpoint the problem. Initially, we were dealing with a jumble of symptoms that didn’t quite fit together, but the past year has seen significant progress in resolving the issue.
She undergoes the procedure every few months to get rid of the excess iron.
As a devoted enthusiast, I’ve taken the plunge and begun a regular monthly process, where approximately 500 milliliters of my own blood is extracted from my body for better comprehension.
She informed The Daily Telegraph that she’s had this condition since she turned 16, as her body accumulates excessive amounts of iron. This excess iron gets stored in various organs, leading to a state known as ‘iron overload’.
Laura earlier revealed why 2023 was the worst year of her life.

On Sunday Confidential, she shared that for the last year, she’s been fighting numerous health problems, and it was recently found out that she has a genetic condition.
At the start of this year, I suffered a fall in Bali which required eight weeks to recover from the resulting injury. After I had healed from that, I unfortunately broke my toe. This is what she shared with the publication.
As Laura was preparing for a marathon, her day took an unfortunate turn when she stumbled over on the sidewalk during her training session.
‘It turned out I had a broken ankle. That ended up being three months of healing.’
