Larry Lamb, known for his roles in *Gavin & Stacey* and *EastEnders*, is starring in a new show called *Art Detectives*. A trailer and some preview pictures have just been released, and the show will be available in the UK later this month.
The series stars Stephen Moyer, known from *True Blood*, as Mick Palmer, a detective who happens to be an art enthusiast. This skill proves useful because the cases he investigates all center around valuable items like antiques and paintings – and, naturally, involve murder.
Nina Singh (from *Virdee*) plays DC Shazia Malik, Mick’s partner who helps solve crimes. The show also features Sarah Alexander (*Smack the Pony*), John Thompson (*Cold Feet*), Alan Turkington (*Heartstopper*), Pearce Quigley (*Detectorists*), and Bronagh Waugh (*Hollyoaks*).

Tony Lamb portrays Ron Palmer, Mick’s father, and their relationship is strained because Ron is a highly skilled art forger.
U’s streaming service shared the show’s trailer on Instagram, offering a preview of what’s to come. The trailer features smooth transitions between scenes using a portrait gallery effect.

I’m so excited, the show finally arrives in the UK on October 30th! It’s funny though, people in the US have been watching it since June – it’s been streaming on Acorn TV, which is great if you love British shows.
This indicates that initial reviews are available, helping us gauge if the show is worth watching.
With an 86% positive rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, based on seven reviews, the show is generally well-received.

According to *Collider*, *Art Detectives* is a standout British mystery series on Acorn TV, with its only downside being its brief six-episode run. *Paste Magazine* praised actor Julian Moyer’s performance, noting it was a refreshing role for him after being known for his work in *True Blood*.
According to a review in Decider, the show *Art Detectives* doesn’t break new ground in terms of its format, but it’s enjoyable thanks to the lead actor’s charisma and the focus on art-related crimes, helping it stand out among the many British mystery shows currently available.
Art Detectives comes to U&Drama and streaming service U on Thursday, 30 October.
