Larry Emdur’s Emotional Anti-Smoking Plea: Honoring His Late Dad’s 90th Birthday

7-TV personality Larry Emdur posted an emotional appeal as he honored his deceased father.

60-year-old Gold Logie winner posted on Instagram over the weekend, commemorating his father, Dave, who would have turned 90 years old that day.

Larry shared a throwback photo that showed him cradling his then-baby son Jye.

Dave proudly stood next to his celebrity son and his new grandson in the sweet family snap.

Larry captioned the photo, saying, “Today would have been my dearest father’s 90th birthday. He was not just a dad to me but also my hero and guide, someone I often reminisce about.

‘Now you may have seen this pic on my feed before but today it jumped out at me as extra powerful.

In another turn of conversation, the host mentioned: “Let me share some figures with you. At the time this picture was captured, my father was sixty years old, I was thirty, and baby Jye had just arrived a few days earlier.

Today, Jye turns 30, I am 60, and if Dad were here, he’d be 90. I adore this photo, and I find it so poignant that these ages are all neatly lined up on this special day… Love to you, Davo, I miss you dearly.

Later on, he passionately urged others to stop smoking, hinting at the fact that his father had died due to a disease linked to tobacco use.

‘If you smoke, consider quitting. Smoking can severely damage your life and may eventually lead to your death. I know it can be tough, but every effort counts. If not for yourself, do it for the people who care about you deeply. For help, call Quitline at 137848.’

Larry’s heartfelt post was met with an outpouring of support from followers.

‘These Memories most certainly become sooo important as the years go by,’ one offered

‘Enjoy this special day. Your Dad is definitely watching over you all.’

A different individual interjected with, ‘Anyone who can articulate their emotions as skillfully as you do is truly admirable. May your father Larry receive divine blessings. I fully concur regarding the topic of smoking.’

Larry’s Seven colleague, weatherman Sam Mac, also jumped in offering three white heart emojis.

Many promptly expressed their personal tributes to Larry’s dad, and one individual encapsulated the feelings of many who knew him.

Reflecting on fond memories of Mr. Emdur, my former neighbor, whom I often visited at the market. The writer reminisces about those times.

The morning show’s host shared a picture of him and his father on Instagram, using the platform to make a strong appeal to his audience, urging them to avoid taking up smoking.

On the anniversary of my father’s passing, I usually share a photo as a reminder that perhaps today could be a day for someone here to consider quitting smoking.

Although these past few years have undeniably been some of the most trying times for us, I understand how tough it might be to persevere, especially when considering giving up. However, if there’s any chance at all, I kindly urge you to hang in there and give it your best shot.

As a committed supporter, I’d like to share a resource that might be helpful for those seeking assistance to quit smoking. The link takes you to the government-backed smoking cessation site: icanquit.com.au.
