Larry Emdur slammed across the globe over Meghan Markle prank gone wrong

Larry Emdur from Channel Seven shared that he’s been getting upset messages from people all over the globe after sharing what he thought was a harmless joke about Meghan Markle.

The 61-year-old TV host caused a stir after saying the famous celebrity had provided a lengthy list of topics to avoid during an interview on The Morning Show.

Larry revealed the news as an April Fool’s Day prank on April 1st, claiming it would happen during the Duchess’s tour of Australia and New Zealand and describing it as an ‘exclusive’ story.

However, the Gold Logie winner appeared unfazed by the attacks from keyboard warriors. 

Larry posted on Instagram Wednesday that he’s still receiving online harassment and angry messages from people all over the world, but he doesn’t care at all.

I originally shared it on April 1st, and over the next few days, it spread online and appeared in people’s newsfeeds around the globe.

It didn’t really feel like a strong April Fools’ joke, which I find really funny. To me, that makes it a successful prank! If you’re upset by it, feel free to unfollow me – I don’t engage with negativity.

David Woiwood, a reporter with Seven Sunrise and one of Larry’s fans, playfully expressed his outrage, reflecting the enthusiastic support for the TV star’s cheeky comment.

One fan admitted they were fooled by the April Fools’ joke, saying, “I really thought I could spot them all!” Another commenter simply wished people would be less quick to anger.

Larry included a picture of the Duchess, which had a smiley face etched into it, in his post.

The original post successfully tricked many Reddit users, and one person in the US shared the prank on the platform on Monday.

According to a Reddit user, Meghan has been asked to appear on the Australian television show, The Morning Show.

They continued: ‘She accepted, but not before the show agreed to a host of restrictions.

Larry Emdur, the show’s host, was given a surprisingly extensive list of off-limits questions to ask the guest, according to her publicists.

They included Larry’s ‘announcement’, where he shared details about his ‘exclusive’.

This is huge news! Before her trip to Australia, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has chosen to do just one interview – and she’s giving it to us!

Larry added: ‘Not gonna lie, the list of “don’t ask” questions is long but we still can’t wait.

I’ve disabled comments because I don’t want to deal with the negative discussions that often happen after posts about Meghan.

‘What topics, pray tell, are off limits?’ said the Reddit user in their post.

‘Her Netflix and As Ever failures, perhaps? Mr Nice Guy is calling her out in a rather unique way.’

Someone else joined the conversation, saying it’s a mistake for him to do the interview if he won’t be allowed to ask questions, as it will just be a promotional piece with no real substance.

Meghan Markle’s planned trip to Australia might involve more than just her ‘Her Best Life Retreat’ in Sydney. Recent discoveries suggest she may also be working on a larger business venture during the trip.

Meghan Markle, 44, has quietly registered trademarks in Australia for her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The filings were made with the Australian Government’s intellectual property office.

The applications, first submitted in September 2024 and approved last June, cover a diverse range of products and services. These include items like skincare, candles, gardening supplies, clothing, event planning, jewelry, and home décor.

Now that Meghan’s deal with Netflix has finished, sources believe this is a great moment for her to start a new business.
