Lara Spencer returns to 'Good Morning America' after double foot surgery: 'All is well'

As a lifelong cinephile who has witnessed countless surgeries and comebacks on the silver screen, it is truly inspiring to see Lara Spencer return to our television screens after her double foot procedures. Her resilience, humor, and unwavering spirit are reminiscent of Meryl Streep’s character in “The Iron Lady,” proving that even when faced with adversity, one can bounce back stronger than ever.

Lara Spencer is back on the air, and back on both feet, after undergoing dual surgeries.

After completing the two-foot surgeries, Spencer informed her “Good Morning America” colleagues with a cheerful greeting as she resumed work on Friday. She mentioned that she’s been taking it easy and enjoying some leisure time while she recovers, according to People’s report.

‘Good Morning America’s’ Lara Spencer talks flea market fun, finds

Outside of hosting “Good Morning America,” Lara Spencer often visits the Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market, which is located close to her residence in Connecticut.

On Friday, a spokesperson for Spencer didn’t respond promptly when The Times asked for further explanation.

This week, Spencer disclosed that she underwent operations on both her feet, where one operation was more significant due to complications from an incident during her college diving days.

On Instagram on Wednesday, Spencer posted a selfie taken with her surgeon, accompanied by the caption: “If I seem a bit drowsy, it’s because this man here has just given me a brand-new pair of shoes.

She mentioned that she was hoping for cowboy boots, but those should arrive in roughly six weeks. She then pointed out a second slide featuring her surgical boots, which were different due to the unique nature of the procedures.

After stepping down from her co-host position with Savannah Guthrie, Kotb will continue working with the network in a fresh capacity.

In her post, Spencer mentioned that her right foot was simple because the surgeon had just taken out a plate from an earlier procedure. However, she clarified that her left foot was more complex due to an old diving injury she sustained in college.

It’s noted on the Pennsylvania State University’s website that the news reporter was once a top-ranked diver for their swimming and diving team at a national level.

Spencer mentioned in her recent update that she had performed a flip called a ‘reverse one and a half’ but instead landed on the board, which resulted in broken toes and joints. Initially, they suggested only wrapping it up, allowing it to heal, and enduring the discomfort.

She went on to say, “There are far superior choices available today,” she emphasized, mentioning Dr. Martin J. O’Malley from New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery. “These boots are designed for walking.

After spending a year in silence, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach finally spoke up following the incident that led to their temporary departure from “Good Morning America.” As Robach put it, “We’ve been through a tormenting year.

Last year, O’Malley conducted a surgery on Spencer’s right foot due to progressive damage from a “tear in the plantar plate and ligament” of the foot, as she posted on Instagram. It’s yet undetermined if the injuries in Spencer’s right foot were linked to the accident involving diving that affected her left side.

On Wednesday, several friends of Spencer left supportive comments following her health update post.

Dr. Jennifer Ashton, a previous chief medical correspondent for ABC News and “GMA,” stated. “That’s your girl, the one who can manage both feet simultaneously! She’s so resilient! Wishing you swift healing on your path to recovery! Let’s get dancing soon!

“Omg!!! Love the new open toed shoes,” former Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon jested.
